I liked this story by the end of the book. At first, I was very wary. The beginning is rough but if you make it through to the end of the book the author explains this different "lore" world and it makes more sense.
After reading (on the Kindle) several more of her novels, I came back and listened to this one again and liked it even more.
Cole's writing is excellent -- fast-paced and snappy dialog with just the right amount of humor. The tension is credible (it is actually very clever how she's structured this world -- it pretty much guarantees credible tension) which is something I always look for.
And it is fun to see the characters come back in subsequent novels. Some of the books are better than others, and this is one of the best in the series.
For those new to this genre....the sex scenes tend to be more graphic than in other romance books, but seem to be on par with what I've read so far in other current "vampire" novels. If you like hot scenes, you will not be disappointed.
This was my first Kresley Cole novel and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm an avid J.R. Ward and Lara Adrian fan and I didn't think that I would be able to find another author who could keep my attention, make my heart pound, make me laugh, and make me tingly in certain areas...if you know what I mean. The story line was great and much of the enjoyment of the fantasy was narrator. Although I didn't like his voice so much for the lead female character, his voice for the lead male character made me want to catch a plane to Scotland, stat! If you need a little mental getaway...you'll enjoy this.
I’m usually quite reluctant to buy romance audibooks that feature a male narrator as they have a tendency to either read in a rush, obviously hoping to be done with it, or read in a monotone, which can ruin an otherwise fun story. Imagine my surprise and delight when Mr. Petkoff not only read at an almost indulgent pace but made the effort to give voice to each character, turning what would have otherwise been an enjoyable listen into a delightful one. He seemed to have fun with the story, which in and of itself was intriguing, entertaining, and well executed, though I admit there were times when I found myself not so much disliking but not fully enjoying Emmaline’s character. She was a bit too timid for my tastes but that hardly detracted from the overall experience. On the whole, however, I thoroughly enjoyed this and am looking forward to listening to the next book by the author and/or the next narration by Mr. Petkoff.
the story was good intense fas pace and very sexy good read.
the main characters and the relationship the had with one another very hot and sexy.
he does a great werewolf voice loved it.
I love this book, I have read it now 4 times. I just can't get enough of those sexy MacRieve Scotts and the fact that they are werewolves is a plus. If you like BDB or Midnight breed you will love the IAD series. That's all I'm going to say. They are all amazballz
The man character's accent was nice. Loved the accent. Although the female's accent could be improved. The autor details nicely, and that's what draws the reader into the story.
Yes, although Personally, I don't think I'll finish the entire series
Didn't particularly care for the female's voice.
I am a book junkie...I read and enjoy a variety of stories, so please don't "define me" by one book or review! :)
For me this story was an "okay" concept that was just not too compelling. The writing is not very inspiring, and the dialogue a bit unimaginative and sometimes silly. I found the whole dominant male attitude of the main character and the love scenes to be rather cliche', and unfortunately the main female character did not resonate for me and make me care. The narration was just passable but not impressive, IMO the female voices were not done very well. In example, Jeaniene Frost's writing and (in particular) the Night Huntress series is what I would refer you to as the high standard in this genre, if you enjoy this type of story: what I call "sexy paranormal" or R-rated paranormal romance.
Sexy Scotish Warewolf
Lockland. Sexy scotish warewolf.
When Ema found out how big and bad she really was.
When Ema fell for the big guy.
Petkoff is the best! Love the voices.
The best part was the sensuality of the characters being drive to one another it's a nice classic love story, the problem is there is nothing riveting holding me to explore anymore of the series.
I think i'll look else where for my vampire lore.
none really it was quite pedestrian.
A better plot
While the whole book is @ 12 hours, it is very intersted and worth a second run.
Awesome story! Lachlain was very sexy and everything you from a Lykae Clan. Emmaline was adorable! I laugh through most of the book and could not put it down. Once you start reading, you are completely focused on figuring out how the story is going to end. This is my first Kresley Cole book. After reading this one, I am interested in trying more
