"Wow!"
Yes.
The narrator is the most memorable from the a hunger like no other. I think I could just listen to his voice all day and night. He brings the book alive in a way never would have thought.
The different accents and the characters came alive in a way that reading doesn't quite do. Don't get me wrong, I love reading books and imagining them in my mind. But Robert Petkoff just does int better
"Interesting but not wow."
During the first half of this audio I almost gave up on it. The situation between the two main characters becomes very repetitive. However I am pleased I stayed with it as the second half was very good. I have never listened to or read a supernatural type book before so I am now interested but not sold. Mr Petkoff has the most amazing voice. Incredibly good interpretation of a sexy Scottish brogue, but I am afraid Emma did sound mostly like a man trying to be a woman (Mrs Doubtfire the movie kept coming to mind) but other than that I so enjoyed listening to Robert and would listen to him anytime....particularly if playing a Scotsman!!
"Emmaline finds her strength"
Yes I would listen to this audiobook again. The story was a journey for both Emmaline and Lachlain. Through her struggle with Lachlain, Emmaline found her strength to not only stand up to him, but find her place among the Valkyrie and finds out what she is capable of.
When Lachlain realizes that Emmaline is nothing like the vampires that torture him for 150 years and that she was a caring being that was also loving.
Yes, I listen to this narrator before, but I like all of his performances so I there I don't have a comparison between stories.
Emmaline finds her strength.
I enjoyed this series, but the beginning is better than the later stories. I really like the feisty Valkyrie and Nix, but we lose them in the later stories.
"I love this Series"
Kresley Cole is a fine author. The story is very well written and so entertaining. Using Robert Petkoff as the narrator truly brought every character to life. So enthralling. Five words... I want more, more, more!
I'm not going to give anything away. Let's just say, you won't be disappointed.
Yes and what a performer he is... always!
Several... however, this series touches on many different emotions.
Kresley Cole, please keep writing and always team up with Robert Petkoff!
"robert petkoff is the best audio narrator ever!"
All the kresley cole books and audio are simply the best!
Black dagger brotherhood....lords of the underworld........so good
Very real...like he is the character! No one is better...I wish he did the brotherhood books..
Yes
"Surprisingly great!!!"
I just was looking for a quick book to satisfy my boredom...But I stayed up all night anxious to finish! it was really good. Sexy, possessive, and gripping.
"The narration makes up for the story"
Yes, for the narration! I've since listened to the other books in this series (ALL of which I prefer to this first story) but I was willing to put up with formula-based plotline because the narrator, Robert Petkoff, rocked my world. Like no joke.
Yes, with the understanding that it's the least good of the series, but worth wading through for hearing Lachlan's voice.
Nothing stood out - I was mostly overwhelmed but HAWT narration.
I was totally inspired to marathon listen to the other books in the series. They get a lot better so easily worth listening to this one.
To paraphrase another review, have lots of fresh panties on hand! You will need them!
"Superb story....fantastic narrator!!!"
Kresley Cole is gifted..pure and simple! This story held my attention from the moment it began to the very last syllable! I believe that the narrator can make or break a book and Mr. Petkoff is absolutely perfect. I can't say enough about his unique presentation. What a talent! I could listen to him all day. I'll be moving on to the rest of the series now! Thank you both!
"Super sexy voice!"
yes, I thought Phil Gigante was the ultimate male narrator, but Robert Petkoff gives him a run for his money. It is so well read/acted that you can't help but stop what you are doing and listen
the narrator and that scottish accent. Loves that he acts the book, and just doesn't read it. I loved the way the main male character overcame his hate for what his true love was, how he seduced her.
My favorite part was the trip to Scotland when he had misconceptions about Emmaline
yes, if I could have listen to it all in one sitting I would have
Great narrator!
"SERIES LIKE NO OTHER! :)"
This was a great start to a new series...well I realize it isn't new, but for me it is. :)
A friend told me about this series, and I'm glad I listened! Although I am currently on book five in this series, I can honestly say that they continue to get better and better!! This first one, while it isn't my favorite, it is a great start as Kresley Cole introduces the Lore (world of supernatural and immortal beings). There is a lot to take in, but it is done very well making it easy to follow.
Hunger Like No Other focuses on Lachlain MacRieve, a Lykae (aka werewolf) King, who escapes from vampire torture to find his mate. Once he finds her, Emmaline, he discovers that she is half vampire...an enemy to werewolves. Emmaline, who is actually the last female vampire, has been pretty sheltered all her life after her parents died. While she is finally seeking the answers to her past, she meets MacRieve, and is taken on a ride that will change everything. As they travel across the country, her acting as his guide, to his home in Scotland...there is a lot of tension, prejudice, and...well...let me just say things get interesting. ;)
I am loving this new Lore world, and the characters are amazing...and so many good lines!! Robert Petkoff, the narrator, is really great!! At first his some of his impressions seemed weak, but he grows on you and gets better over time and does a fantastic job!! I'm in for a long ride as I continue this series. So excited!!
