I like magical realism.
I liked it, I just wish there had been more to it. It's funny and mildly interesting, but I didn't think it had a whole lot of substance to it.
So, my eight year old stepson thought this book was funny, and that's probably because the humor was good enough for a kid. I was pretty disappointed. I know, Ellen typically has clean humor, and I appreciate that, but this was really childish. :-(
I would because I know that she can do better.
It was something that I could listen to with my stepson.
If you like the Ellen Show, then you will enjoy this book which is as random, cheerful and light as the TV version. Don't expect any extra candid disclosures or wisdom. If she has any struggles, she doesn't talk about them in a vulnerable way. Her advice is vague but pleasantly delivered. Good read if you've just finished Tolstoy or Henry James novel and don't want to think about what you are reading at all.
Laughed out load several times, even in public (so people probably thinks I'm crazy now). It's a lovely book by Ellen, and you really feel that it's written by her about her. All stars!
Ellen basically read the book as a book… It was very dry and unemotional. The content was all over the place, and it just lacked the brilliance that Ellen displays on her show and in her comedy.
Ok, so this is a book I started listening to this morning and am done with it before the day ended... I am bedridden with multiple disc prolapse- but I just just did a jig:)). That's what Ellen does to me... Go get a copy- so recommend it...
I loved it! It was funny, informative, inspirational and motivational and also curious... It is a very good audiobook and definitely do not regret having downloaded it. In fact, i heard the 3 hours of the book in a row and i payed attention to every single word. Ellen's voice is just so nice to hear... Is clear, neat and approachable.
