As I am new at this, I have accidentally written my review of Ellen's book under the wrong title. (The 4th Universe)
The sound of her voice and hearing her talent "live" when delivering her story are much better appreciated than just reading the book.
Again, I love Ellen. She is a funny lady. Book was just too much of a good thing.
But this audio book disappointed me. There were so many random tangents and outrageous hypothetical situations that I don't feel I got any better an understanding of her than I would watching her talk show. She kept us at a distance and I found myself genuinely laughing very little. If you're looking for an insight into the celebrity we all love and admire, it's all here. Seriously, I'm kidding. It's not.
Love a good audio book on my commute.
Always love her talk show and this is sort of like that opening part of talk show, but in a book form. :)
Let me start by saying that I really like Ellen, and that's why I didn't think it was necessary to read the reviews before I downloaded this. I was wrong. After I was about 30 minutes in, I went back and read the reviews. One reviewer mentioned it seemed like Ellen had a book deal and then realized she had nothing to write about..and that seems spot on. It's boring, nothing connects and most disappointing of all..it's not even funny or amusing in the least. Save your $$ and go for a different book.
Not funny..just random thoughts
I usually enjoy listening to Ellen but I couldn't even finish the book her voice seems very monotone and is really boring to listen to. T
The entire thing. It's ridiculously dull.
I loved that it was read by Ellen. She's one of the world's best entertainers and I was not disappointed in her performance with narrating this audio book. I didn't particularly love the content of the book in that I was expecting something different. I had hoped to get a real feeling for the thoughts Ellen has on life and was met with cute, albeit funny, anecdotes.
I love Ellen, but wow. This book is basically all the things that were probably cut from her other books. No rhyme or reason, just a bunch of nonsense. To top it off, she sounds so bored. Really really really disappointing
I would rank this book 5 STAR.
I like the way Ellen narrates the story to the listener. To me it just catches my attention. I find that this book is portable, no matter where you are in the world, in the living room, bathtub, beach or in the bus you will be able to relate to the story and enjoy the book.
Listening to Ellen is listening to Ellen she is funny and playful in her speech as usual.
I actually loved the topic on "Stuff" it made me think of my life and really many other chapters that I can relate to think more about my life and it really moved me.
