I've always enjoyed watching Ellen's show, but this adds an extra layer of insight into who she is. She inspires me, makes me laugh, and makes me wish I had more friends like her.
Yes! Besides the obvious of being entertain, she mentions things that make you reflect on your everyday life, with a hint of joyful sarcasm. I cannot think of a better way to spend my daily hour commute to work!
The originality. It's Ellen narrating and it's like if you were in front of her on her show. It's refreshing, it's different and it's so funny!!
Both my wife and I are huge fans of Ellen, so when we downloaded this audio book to listen to on our long drive up the east coast, we had high expectations of being thoroughly entertained. I’m sorry to say, as much as we like Ellen, this is one of the worst audio book listening experience we’ve ever had. Ellen narrates the book and is great at it, but her material is just tedious ramblings. She seriously did not invest too much thought in the material. Halfway through the book I began losing faith that it would get better and began hoping that seriously... she was kidding.
Her narration was very natural and easy to listen to. She is excellent at story telling, that is what makes this experience the more disappointing.
I loved that it was One, read by her. Two, it's just Ellen being Ellen. <3
OH my! EVERYTHING! You can just picture her sitting on a sofa telling her story. It's as if someone is not a reading a book to you but instead just talking to you.
Sweet, Funny book.
i dont know... like of of her performances Ellen lost her self from the subject sometimes... i realy enjoy most of the audiobook but sometime it really seems like she just want to get over with and her reading looks a bit fast!.. slow down Ellen, we have time!
theres a few chapters like the one with the sounds that... mmm well it wasnt that funny at all!...
but shes funny anyway... even when with the loooongest chapter... i took it with me on a flight from houston to london and there was one part on the audiobook i guess the first chapters where i coudnt start laughing and the lady next to me was sleeping so i woke her up! and she was a bit upset... im sorry snoring lady on the plane! i coundt help my self!
I'm a law student and I love books.
This book was fine. Nothing about it that' particularly memorable or amazing. It's not a book that changed my life. It's funny, Ellen's funny, it was an easy listen during an afternoon of gardening.
I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading it, but I'm also not going to tell everyone I meet about it, which is how I've felt about some books.
I loved hearing Ellen read her book
All of Ellen's stories are funny or touching
Ellen is excellent and her reading her own book added a great touch
I listened to this book while waiting to serve jury duty
Because of this book, I'm hooked on audio books! Thanks audible.com!
I love reading self-improvement and humour books because we all need a little laughter in our lives.
Inspiring, Humorous, Outstanding
Ellen Degeneres is such an inspiration for many people. She inspires people to just "stop and smell the roses." She is a celebrity whose life is very private and thus, we see no media mis-interpretation of her. Throughout this story, she allows us into her life in an extremely positive way. She combines humour and real-life.
Ellen brings emotion and laughter to the story. Because of the way it is written, it could easily be mis-interpreted and people may not catch the sarcasm. By listening to it, you get the full message.
This book made me laugh...and laugh hard!
I was wholeheartedly disappointed. The book and narration was forced and gimmicky. Strange silences at the end of chapters to prove a point is a perfect recipe for the amazing REM I had during this experience.
It is obvious that Ellen had very little to say, to start off with. She even acknowledges this at the start of the book. It was really true.. She didn't know what to write
Monotone, Disappointing, Waste
All scenes under 3 minutes... And there were many if them
Yes, I listened to this book while multitasking: walking, doing chores.
If they were fans of Ellen, sure.
She goes on long tangents that if I was reading I probably would have skipped over, but listening to her ramble made it easier to understand where her mind was going.
