This delightful story of a little girl who is trying to honor her father's wishes has some predictable elements, but also some surprises along the way. If you always cheer for the underdog, this story is for you.
I've recently developed from focusing on fantasy romances towards epic fantasy/scifi. I love time travel, magic, and anything supernatural.
First of all, I find myself hunting Jim Dale books just so I can listen to his superb narrating. He is absolutely excellent, and if this is your first book read by him, prepare to be sucked in.
The story is wonderfully lighthearted and cleverly unfolds. You fall in love with Po and Bundle almost instantly, and happily anticipate the adventure that ensues. The last few lines of the book create an ending that will make you smile.
Its a short read that is worth every penny and minute.
Liesl and Po is a darling little mash up of turn of the century and fantasy world themes. From trains to magic with ghosts, the story is good fun and the narration by Jim Dale is wonderful.
I am a Youth Services Librarian at a public library and I love my job. I am also a runner and I love listening to great books while staying healthy. That's Elsie in the picture...she is my favorite running partner and typically perks her ears up during the tense portions of the books :)
Too simplistic. I realize that it was for kids, but even so it was a bit surface level.
I liked Po.
Jim Dale could read from a microwave manual and I would listen to it. That being said, the story itself was a bit bland.
Fantastical, Life, Death
Almost 100% sure the narrator is the voice of the newest AngelSoft toilet paper commercial, haha. Don't think it's a fake accent. I think he's just trying to be a bit too heartfelt/grandpa-ish, if that makes sense.
I'm not sure if this is a children's book... Could be I suppose. It's a little dark though and I would imagine most kids would have A LOT of questions.
This book was magical, exciting, and "ineffably" sweet! It was very well written. The narrator made the characters come alive. I loved it!
Glad to be part of the audible community and I hope that my reviews help to choose the right book and share my love of reading.
I can't finish this book. The narrator is not very good and has this fake, horrible irish/scottish accent he desperately tries to do. The story just doesn't grab you or move you, don't spend your money on it. It's just plain boring and lame! Sorry!
