"Exciting and fun"
For the fans of Commander Vimes it is an awesome development into his new "relationship" and Willikins is badass as ever! ;)
"wonderful and thought provoking as ever"
Once again submerged in the world of Vimes I was as happy as ever and the hours listening simply flew by. So sad when it ended.
"One of Sir Terry's best"
This is one of Sir Terry's best books, the story as pace and the humour is spot on. I have listen to it countless times and would recommend, as always Stephen Briggs puts in a top notch performance and helps bring the story alive.
This book showcases Sam Vimes, what a man. Noble, honourable, kind, hard bitten, righter of wrongs, husband of the indomitable Sybil, father of Sam (whose poo obsession is hilarious), friend, mentor, hero and all round good guy. The book also features Widdikins (sp?), a gentleman's gentleman and so much more. The rest of the watch are there but in small doses. Loved it and will listen again and again.
"A fitting finale for Commander Vimes and Lady Sybil."
An excellent story and wonderfully narrated by Stephen Briggs. The narrator has the ability to be able to do such a range of voices that the listener actually forgets that they are only listening to one person.
Terry Pratchett's story of Commander Vimes and the wonderful Lady Sybil is a fitting final to all their adventures together. What a magnificent couple and how wonderful to see how they have changed and grown over the stories. To get the full enjoyment out of this story I would suggest that the listener starts at the beginning with 'Guards! Guards!.
makes good listening as long as have read the book, other wise to distractive trying to follow the plot
"was one of tarry pratchett basst works"
loved it a funny story to lesson to hardly stad any more than one or two hours away from it
"excellent like "Thud" - Fun, insightful, political"
I loved it. As usual, Stephen Briggs was excellent.
The book's set in the countryside, with a Townie's view of it, which makes a bumpkin like me smile.
There's a strong political vein exposing and denouncing prejudice and slavery, which really appealed to me.
Going to listen to it again and again.
I love this book, well read and masterfully written. It's hard to listen to a favourite book without picking faults in the narrator, but this was perfect.
"really love pratchettt"
