I think Maxwell's theory is right on. Leaders who truly connect with their teams will get the best results both in the short term and the long term. However the practical aspects are a bit limited. In any major corporation, one can see hundreds of examples of people who are doing very well professionally and never made it past Level 1 on his scale.
Its hard to get the meat of a self-help book with points to remember in an audio form.
The story is good, and helpful.
No I think I understood what he was presenting.
Good information. but a long listen and several times it gets hard to follow.
Yes, This book is great for upcoming managers and/or anyone taking on a leadership role.
Reading this book is great for anyone new to the leadership systems. I believe reading this book is a good transitional to "Good to Great" by Jim Collins.
Pick up this book if you are serious about strengthening your fundamentals with leadership.
Don't end up like that boss / manager that you hate to work for. You all know what I'm talking about.
Maxwell can be a bit dry when it comes to presentation, however his material is always 1st class. I've read several of his books and find them all valuable. This book helped me figure out where I am on the continuum as well as how to move to the next level. Ultimately leadership is necessary for any great endeavor in life and a little guidance never hurt anyone.
Yes, because I always listen to my books minimum 5 times ... I do learn more and improve skills from act to habits, and also I give a gap between each time of listening to see if I am following the steps rights nor did forget some steps.
I love my self so I do improve my self
Not compare them with it but can say that they go with it ... such as : Eat that frog, One minute manager
Thanks for this book ..
Some good insights to leadership. Little light on techniques and stronger on goals of leadership. I did like the few examples on how to transfer ownership, empower, & train a team. The narrator (and author) had a fairly dull reading... had to rewind numerous times as my mind wandered off onto how I could help my own team.
This book opens your mind to take the next step towards a higher level of being a leader. Many things are common sense but you need to put everything together in order to achieve your goal.
Yes to those who don't yet understand leadership levels. Those who already have the knowledge I would not recommend reading.
Disliked the referrences to faith (too often).
Would be better relating to leadership from business rather than faith and sport.
Definitely would recommend this book. Lots of great wisdom and would enable my friends to improve their leadership abilities. Also I just love John Maxwell's voice.
The realisation of where I was at in the 5 levels of leadership made a great difference to how I have gone to work and lived my life since and what I have tried to achieve.
John is a great story teller and the resources that come with the book very helpful.
