This book was much better than the previous. Like the previous, it starts out slow, in fact the whole first half is slow, but then the pace picks up quickly and there are a lot more interesting events going on. Overall I really enjoyed it except for the huge cliff hanger at the end. There are still a lot of story lines to wrap up, not to mention the major one at the end. The narrator is great, not quite 5 stars, but great in any case. I've forgotten to mention in my earlier reviews that there is a song that plays here and there throughout the book which is nice, but there are some other sound effects that I just don't like. I just don't like sound effects in audiobooks. Another thing I don't like about this series is that there isn't a lot about the magic system. If there was more info on the magic system, and more magic for that matter I would give it mor stars. I've bought the next and final book in the series just for closure really. I hope it's as good as this one.
Mother, aspiring writer and a lover of re-reading books.
I honestly feel that the information in this book could have been consolidated into the other three. I found a ton of the information to be redundant.
The fact that they felt the need to constantly remind me of what had happened to the characters or their characteristics.
This was the first.
Absolutely not. They botched Beautiful Creatures so horrifically that they will never be able to get subsequent movies right.
The storyline and character development/connections could have been much stronger. I really don't care about Lena and Ethan's relationship and love for each other. They bore me as a couple. I cared more about Liv and Ama and their relationships with Ethan. Lena seems really annoying to me.
I'm going to re-listen to Divergent and Insurgent to get ready for Allegiant in October.
The reader, Kevin Collins, did a good job.
I would as a good read, not to complex. Easy story line to follow.
The relationship between Lena and Ridley
He did a great job.
If the plot line was not so repetative, this would have been a much better book. It's one thing when there's a plot twist and the characters' situation becomes different and they have to adapt. However, with this book (and entire series), the same problems keep coming up-there is no variety to the challenges the characters face. The 16th, 17th etc moon thing was old by the time I got to this book. In a world with all of these different creatures, perhaps the story could have incorporated more about them instead of focusing completely on Lena and Ethan. We got glimpses of Ridley, Macon, and Amma, but the amount of time we spent listening to Ethan try to understand Lena's moodswings was borderline unbearable. What about John or Macon's sister? What about Ethan's father? For a series with four books I feel many of the characters could have been developed more thoroughly instead of just focusing on the two (at times irritating) main characters.
I liked the Mortal Instruments series and am looking forward to reading the Infernal Devices.
I have listened to him read the other books in this series. He gives a great performance.
The reaction I had was anticipation followed by disappointment over and over again.
Yes I enjoyed the narrators accents
I liked the continuation flow from one book to the next
He has great tallent in sounding like I imagined the characters would and good inflection in his voice
Out of chaos comes clarity
A middle-aged romantic who grew up reading Heinlen, Louis L'Amour and Richard Hooker. Expect and honest opinion, even if it's not PC.
Great story continues. Some parts were so touching, I found myself crying while I drove to work. But the parts are disjointed and the overall impression is one of a chaotic mixing of events and stories. Like the puzzle described in the book, each piece was beautiful in itself, but making them fit together seemed to be very difficult and not entirely successful. I do recommend you read this book, but I also recommend that the authors take more time to get them right before publishing.
1 of our most favorite book
I love the way they play the music
this book was different and I love the way he would reveal the plots. I also enjoy how he would build up the plots with suspense
when you didn't discover the truth about what happened on Lena birthday
I was listening to this book. Then I caught my daughter started listening to it. so we started listening together at my daughter then my granddaughter join us. this is the first book that I get to listen with my daughter and granddaughter
