OK that might be an exaggeration but had I read this book 25 years ago before starting my first business, I could have avoided dozens of problems, saved hundreds of thousands of dollars and pushed up growth by at least a decade.....assuming I was wise enough as a 24 year old skull of mush to put the wisdom into practice. I learned many of these lessons the hard way. If you're starting a company, you must start here.
No - While there is some good advice from Dave's experience, I was happy when it ended. Dave's style is very loud and out there and full of references to his evangelical Christian beliefs. If you're not into hearing references to the Bible etc. every 5 to 10 minutes then look elsewhere.
This is not a book for entrepreneurs that want to have staff that can innovate. This book is more about how to motivate and control staff, not inspire them to innovate new products or product features.
I'm sure some of his advice is illegal. The book does not have a good flow to it. It is littered with christian reifications and beliefs.
I liked when he talked about business morality while leaving out his personal discriminations.
I'm new to audiobooks but it was a great first pick.
There was something in every chapter that I can and need to apply.
He was obviously passionate about the material.
Dave Ramsey is giving you a metric ton of great advice in this book. As a small business owner, I was happy to nod my head listening in affirmation and confirmation while getting a ton of new education too.
Dave Ramsey reads his work like he runs his financial talk show, conversationally and real. The common sense advice about business and leadership adds a few noteworthy twists, but even the advice heard before sounds fresh with Dave's presentation.
Dave Ramsey is a character. He never soft petals his advice.
Self-made hard-punching businessman gives grandmotherly advice to young self-starters and manages to keep his teeth in.
I listened to this book and have now purchased the hard copy to keep as a reference guide. Dave as the narrator was great and kept me entertained.
DAVE RAMSEY and his team have done it again this is going to be a huge title.
Please mark religious books as such!!! And now I am suspecting a motive on the part of Audible. I was sucked in because this book was only 3.95 but not a word was said about it being bible based. I live in the south and get quite enough Christianity shoved down my throat without being tricked into it. This is not the first time that this has happened with Audible.
Lest you think that my only objection to this book was its religious overtones, let me assure you that an hour into the book before I got too angry to go on, I had not heard anything other than very trite platitudes delivered as if they were commandments from god. The reader is a typical southern patriarchal man acting as if he has access to unique insights and the generosity to sell them. This is the height of arrogance and the depth of ignorance.
Clearly there are many who appreciate this kind of guidance. I pity them.
I stand in awe, for Dave is one of the few who walk this earth with the desire and ability to touch the hearts, minds and souls of those of us who were not graced by God with such intelligence, empathy and humility.
Just how many brain cells does this man have firing all at once anyway?
PS I play well with others, Dave.
