An audio book loving Aucklander.
Thought this was a good listen. I think there were some good points to go back to (down the track), when we get actually our business more up and running. Some good points to be included in the business plan too. However, in the beginning of the book I would have liked to have heard more about Dave's financial problems when he was younger and how he got there exactly, aside from the fact he over extended himself finanically. He mentions at the beginning he has a strong Christian faith, however, he didn't drone on too much on this particular point which I appreciated. It comes up throughout, but more as an aside thankfully. Well done Dave and family on your success in helping others be more financially successful and secure.
This is a great book for new business owners, existing business owners as well as folks you are developing to run your business. Some great insights. Great to hear how Dave runs his company. Also, anytime you can have a book read by an excited author is worth it!
OK that might be an exaggeration but had I read this book 25 years ago before starting my first business, I could have avoided dozens of problems, saved hundreds of thousands of dollars and pushed up growth by at least a decade.....assuming I was wise enough as a 24 year old skull of mush to put the wisdom into practice. I learned many of these lessons the hard way. If you're starting a company, you must start here.
No - While there is some good advice from Dave's experience, I was happy when it ended. Dave's style is very loud and out there and full of references to his evangelical Christian beliefs. If you're not into hearing references to the Bible etc. every 5 to 10 minutes then look elsewhere.
This is not a book for entrepreneurs that want to have staff that can innovate. This book is more about how to motivate and control staff, not inspire them to innovate new products or product features.
I'm sure some of his advice is illegal. The book does not have a good flow to it. It is littered with christian reifications and beliefs.
I liked when he talked about business morality while leaving out his personal discriminations.
I'm new to audiobooks but it was a great first pick.
There was something in every chapter that I can and need to apply.
He was obviously passionate about the material.
Dave Ramsey is giving you a metric ton of great advice in this book. As a small business owner, I was happy to nod my head listening in affirmation and confirmation while getting a ton of new education too.
Dave Ramsey reads his work like he runs his financial talk show, conversationally and real. The common sense advice about business and leadership adds a few noteworthy twists, but even the advice heard before sounds fresh with Dave's presentation.
Dave Ramsey is a character. He never soft petals his advice.
Self-made hard-punching businessman gives grandmotherly advice to young self-starters and manages to keep his teeth in.
I listened to this book and have now purchased the hard copy to keep as a reference guide. Dave as the narrator was great and kept me entertained.
