Well, there are so many books to listen to, not sure I would re-listen at this time. Perhaps a few years from now I would revisit the series.
Excellent reading, no difficulty differentiating the characters. The cadence and tone are quite good, makes one forgets it is a reading, more like a play.
Laughed on occasion at some of the writing.
We are fans of Castle, and looked for a light book to listen to together on longer car rides. We listen over 2 or 3 trips, so this is perfect... not difficult to get back into when a week or two apart, and interesting story line. Entertaining, is what we were looking for...
"Heat Rises" is one of my favourite audiobooks to listen to and enjoy over again.
An interesting plot that is made more exciting by it's heroine. Nikki Heat has strong convictions, and doesn't suffer fools. She is one of the strongest female leads I have ever read, equal measure confident and compassionate and smart. This is one of the few audiobooks I have bookmarked selections to go back and listen to over again.
The narration is clear and the voices distinct for the characters; however, I would have preferred hearing a woman's voice to match Nikki's view.
The only book that might compare to Heat Rises, would be the other Nikki Heat books. The relationship between the characters may be similiar to other romance novels, but the wit and depth of the characters is phenominal in this series.
Johnny Heller adds depth to the characters of Rook and Heat. He make you laugh and cry.
I both laughed and cried during this book.
The interplay between Heat and Rook is at the core of these books. Sometimes you have to laugh at how Rook can push Heat's buttons.
The sexual innuendos are "to die for"!!!
Nail biting good.
Yes. Could not stop listening to it.
Castle, followed closely by Becket.
Find somewhere Cold, the Heat is about to Rise sharply.
The next book that is coming out in Sept. I want to see it
available on Audible at the same time. I have already pre-
ordered the book, so I would like to preorder the Audio.
I am a 65-year-old psychologist, married for 25 years, with two sons who are 25 and 22. I love reviewing the books and the feedback I get.
This audiobook is a fast listen. Like TV, it is almost instantly forgettable. The characters meet cute, as they say in Hollywoodland, and the entire thing reads like a screenplay looking for a producer. I see that they found one. I haven't watched the TV show, but I can imagine. The book lacks credibility in the extreme. Nikki and her guy Jameson are superheroes. Both smart, beautiful, athletic, well-read, etc. The idea that this perfect woman would work as an NYPD officer is so preposterous that it might make me laugh, but it doesn't. Likewise, the love interest is, of course, an investigative reporter who happens to be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, cook like an Iron Chef, make love like a bodice-ripping coxswain, etc. Spare me. If you are looking for mindless entertainment and your TV is in the shop, help yourself. For me, the truism that no one ever went broke underestimating the public taste applies here. Was that PT Barnum?
I tried to listen to this and just had to give up. The narrator did not change his voice from one character to another. Having a man narrate this was a mistake. Nikki Heat is of course a girl and her part not being read by a woman ruined this book. I only finished one chapter and quit trying to get into it. At least they should have had a woman narrate the Nikki Heat part and then maybe it would have been worth listening to. Very disappointed.
He should have had a woman narrate the Nikki Heat part.
He did not hold my interest and never changed up his voice.
Did not finish it so I don't know.
No, I would not. The storyline just did not keep my interest.
The character did not come alive to me. I fault the narration.
I had too much difficulty figuring out which character was being represented.
It had a woman detective as chief character.
I cannot recommend this book.
the story dragged in spite of (too many) intricate twists and turns. I listened all the way to the end just to protect my investment. Nope. I just did not like this book. In the future I will watch for both author and narrator and avoid them.
If I am not reading I am listening to a story sometimes both.
Hate the male character Rook he is arrogant conceited jerk. And the female character is portrayed as caring about this person...that is demeaning and so full of ........
Waste of time and money to have gotten this series
