I LOVE books. And dogs & quilting & beading & volunteering.
I'm not a huge fan of Nora Roberts but, surprisingly enough, I do enjoy the "In Death" series. Hard hitting Eve Dallas appeals to me as a character and I enjoy the degree that Roberts alter ego Robb writes the combo Mystery/cop procedural/romance books.
I've read most of the books but never listened to an audio version-I'd sort of lost interest after 30 books.
This was surely the book to begin listening to the series...it's freaking exciting, well written and plot heavy. I really enjoyed it and wasted a whole day on it.
Guess I better download the rest of the books I haven't read.....have to catch up with the series!
Paranormal-urban fantasy book lover!
This book sheds a lot of light on Eve's past and we learn a lot about her history. It answered a ton of questions burning for me to get the answers to. It is action packed, funny, and sexy (gotta love Roarke).
I also can't say enough of how brilliant a job Susan Ericksen does reading these books. She gives it her all and each character is so uniquely different I just love to listen to her.
Just remember to start with book 1 "Naked in Death"
Happy Reading! (Listening)
Added note - this is not my usual genre but I'm in love with the series. Im a fantasy/paranormal/scy fi girl.
I couldn't stop listening. Another great chapter in the lives of Eve and Roarke. Susan Ericksen does the most wonderful job narrating and gives such life to the characters.
If you follow this series, this brings you back to the beginning. Eve's past shows up big time in this book, and is a real ride for the listener. She's tough and determined not to let this case get to her, even though it brings her back to her very beginning. It's not just a case, but a personal threat to her and Roarke. Roarke is right there with her, knowing her better than she knows herself, along with her support team, this book doesn't disappoint. Absolutely loved this book, and Susan Ericksen couldn't do a better job. She brings these characters to life, along with the drama and humor.
If you liked Anita Blake at first, then got totally mad at what happened with her character, try these books. Eve Dallas is tough and vulnerable, with the perfect sexy partner, Roarke. Just a great series!
Yes. It is a book which makes you want to stay with the characters and not stop finding out what is going to happen next.
Too many good parts.
Again, too many...
Yes, if I was able to.
I think the last scene was actually a weak one, but still very exciting. The whole book was an excellent story.
Without a doubt this is THE BEST series ever. The futuristic setting, incredible action, and phenomenal cast of secondary characters made this a series that keeps you coming back for each new installment. The constantly evolving relationship between Eve and Roarke is the highlight of this series for me, but I am as equally as invested in every secondary character that makes up Eve and Rourke's world.
The Narration of Susan Ericksen is so extraordinarily perfect its uncanny, she is Eve Dallas, brings her to life and holds the listener spellbound to the very last word.
The In Death series is not to be missed!
I really don't know if I came write a fair review as I am SOLD on the whole J.D. Robb series. The people in them are so real with a different personality for each it feels like I know them. Some of these books I've listened to 5 or 6 times and I still get a chuckle out of the little side bars. Susan Ericksen also gets my vote. I look for books she reads and have often purchased them because she the reader. The two together is a winning combo. Hope there are more on the way.
Totally addicted to Audible.
This was so good that when I finished I immediately started it again. I cried more than once and just loved the interaction between Dallas and Roarke. I only regret that it will be so long before another one comes out.
