Ok, so its called "young adult fiction" and is told in the narrative of a 15/16 year old. I'm 58. Lol, I loved it! Idk if I could read the sequel just yet, but I will some day. (I wish I had been that savvy as a teen--definitely fiction :)). Good plot and story, but for me the magic was in the storytelling. I'm glad I purchased it on audible.
I don't understand how anyone over the age of 18 can consider this a great read. This is definitely a book for younger audiences. The voice of "Spoon," who was obviously inserted as comic relief, was so over the top and annoying. It really felt like I was reading a children's book.
Why can't these stories fulfill all audiences, without these simple-minded, pre-pubescent formulas?
I enjoyed it very much, the reading and performance was outstanding, however the ending was well not cool, like it just stops, everything stops. it leaves you hanging. ..
Narrator was good and made the story flow smoothly. The story was simple and entertaining. I like those books that have good mystery , and this was one . I will be listening to another by this author, and hopefully narrator.
I had a great time listening to this book. especially since Prodigy did the reading himself. If was a very insightful behind the music story of a group that really helped me get thru my teenage years as a young black male in america.
