Foreign voices become dear friends, whispering in my ear. Some last long after the story has ended, heard, then, by all whom I touch.
I'm a big fan of the notion that all religions teach similar lessons using different language and customs so the fact that this book is written by a Christian did not make it any less useful or interesting for this Jew.
Very uplifting and inspiring
How I can identify with the authors teaching
How to livr a happy fulfilled life!
I love listening to Joel Osteen, he delivers his message with sincerity and a touch of humor. He always puts things into perspective for me. I couldn't stop listening to the book, I wanted it to go on and on and on! I finished and already started over!
No. It was ths same stuff you hear in his sermons.
I would really have liked for there to have been some new information, or even a new message.
This is the first book I have listened to. It has led me to view audiobooks in a completely different way. I was able to listen on the way to work, on my walks, on breaks, etc. It was great!
I suffer from anxiety and hodling on to negativity way too long. I am not a church going person but I am very spiritual. He actually made me see what my everyday life and true blessings surrounding me are. He made me see all my "rewards" in this life and to bring myself out of a very scary place and into the present moment. I will forever be grateful for this book. The best story in the book for me was the story of Shea at the baseball game and how it all came together with the simple jesture of faith and kindness. AMAZING!! I have experimented with his "smile theory". I cannot even begin to express how this has changed my life. Everyone I smile at can't help but to smile back. :)
His voice is naturally uplifing. You can hear his smile and his perspective of what he is writing and what is so important in his message.
The Shift of Light
Yes, because this is something you should to listen to often and you can with audible.
His reading was clear, slow enough to follow and his voice was not monotone.
No. This is a book to listen a portion, ponder what he is saying and then move on to the next portion.
Inspiring, Motivation, Blessing
The smiling preacher =)
everyday a friday is a matter of choice.
The last chapter about wearing your blessings well is my favorite!
Yes, I would recommend this audiobook. I really enjoyed listening when getting ready for work in the morning and driving in traffic!
The entire book is about every day life experiences at home and work. I try to enforce the message by example on a daily basis in both places.
Inspirational everyday encouragement
I liked how emphasis
was placed on how you can not please everyone.
The story about how Joel's daughter would come down the stairs at night as a little girl.
Mr. Osteen does a great job of offering meaningful advice without being too
Some of the anecdotes brought me to tears. The one about a little boy and his teacher was especially moving.
As a rule, I don't read/listen to faith based self-hope books because they are either too heavy handed or are constantly referring to Biblical passages to make a point. Since I believe most passages can be interpreted different ways, I don't find that a compelling argument on how to behave. Mr. Osteen does refer to the Bible, but not constantly, and not to condemn. He uses passages to lift you up and show that God wants us to be happy and fulfilled. I found that refreshing and inspiring.
