I enjoy Sci-Fi, Mysteries and Spy novels. I also enjoy biographies and sports. Love going to the movies and I also enjoy the theater.
What fun listen this was. Truly enjoyed it. I read this book 20 yrs ago and it still holds its own.
this book was great. it had a great narrator, beautiful music and thrilling sound effects. the story flowed, was fast paced, yet very detailed. The main vilain was a brilliant genius that all villains should aspire to be. this is a must read for any star wars fan be he/she a hardcore fan or a simple fan who likes the movies.
This really is an amazing book. I've loved it since I was only 11 or 12 years old. Random House Audio did an amazing job bringing the book to life with great narration, sound effects, and music selections from the films.
This is a great pick up from where Return of the Jedi left off. Excellent story, great narration.
This is probably my favorite audiobook. The story itself is well done, but when it comes to audiobooks narration is what really defines the experience. Marc Thompson does such an amazing job that I cannot believe there isn't an entire cast performing these voices. Plus, the production goes above and beyond with sound effects, many of them in exact fashion as the movies. It just wouldn't be anywhere close to the same experience without the voices and sounds, especially Artoo!
It's like a full movie in audio form!
The story itself was a bit underwhelming, but maybe I went into it with my expectations too high. The story is essentially a series of escspes, near-misses, and coincidental meet-ups that make the galaxy seem about as big as a shopping mall. If you don't get too hung up on those aspects, it's a very solid start to a trilogy (that I have not yet finished).
It introduces a few new characters to go along with our old friends, and it is these new characters that will really hold your interest and make up for the intolerably dull sections (i.e. long conversations between Luke and R2,).
The voice acting, however, is without equal. The voices of familiar characters sounds like Harrison and Billy D. going back and forth.
