Took me right back to the days when the books came out and I read new Star Wars stories for the first time
The John Williams music and sound effects added to the sense that I was back in the movie theater
When will the 20th Anniversary editions of Dark Force Rising and The Last Command be released? Let's go!
Best Production Ever
I have to say, he gives voice to Thrawn, and I think the acting is pitch perfect.
This book has amazing production values. You forget at times you are listening to a novel, and instead find yourself engrossed in the action and dialogue. It reminds me of old time radio programs. Marc Thompson makes you forget he is one person, a truly amazing voice acting performance. I will buy all the books he reads.
I would, held m interest.
Trawn, very layered.
The full version is great, hopefully book 2 an 3 get done.
This has been one of the best books ever in all the star wars series. The entire series is great. I wish they would redo book 2 and 3 on audio book. I would buy them again if Marc Thompson was the reader.
Im not a huge star wars fan, but i did enjoy the movies and wanted to know what happens next. the story was ok, not super action packed but it did have some good action parts. the narration was by far the best part of the book and what kept my attention. the music and sound was great, and the narrator had good voice range and an array of voices to mix it up with. they even distorted he voice so that he actually sounded like C3PO. the story kind of dragged in places not too bad. overall i was happy with the book, but i wouldnt listen a 2nd time, once was enough

well, more like 16 since I 1st read this, and man. Still as good as ever. Marc Thompson, you are incredible sir. Please push to finish off the trilogy!!
Totally Blown Away
Twenty years ago, Zahn jump starting of the expanded, post ROTJ Star Wars with an epic trilogy that remains a standard by which all later Star Wars books were judged. Seeing this special edition unabridged recording inspired me to revisit this title to see how well it held up. For the most part, it has aged well. Zahn offering a compelling and swift moving narrative giving us a look at life in that galaxy far far away after the Rebellion's victory.
Most important of all, though, is the unabridged redition of the complete story. To many Star Wars novels suffer from their abridgement into audiobook form. This gives the full experience and I hope that we will get to have the other two books of this trilogy in unabridged form soon as well.
Marc Thompson is an excellent narrator that makes the characters sound almost like the original actors from the movies. I had to laugh though, Tallon Karrde sounds a little like Antonio Banderas. This is the first Unabridged Star Wars book I have gotten, and both my wife and myself are eagerly awaiting Dark Force Rising and The Last Command to come out unabridged by the same narrator!
Timothy Zahn wrote a very good series and Marc Thompson really brings it alive. You want some great entertainent? Get this audiobook.
unit one is in troube and its scared out of its wits
I read this book 20 years ago and wasn't overly impressed but was glad to see the Star Wars Expanded Universe genre kick off regardless. Now 20 years later after having listened to this audio version I have to reprise my opinion on this. I really enjoyed listening to the book and I have to say that this was an excellent production which is probably why I enjoyed it better this time around. Props to Marc Thompson who has the voices of the male characters down to a freakin T!
