Probably not. Not because it's not good, because it is! Just because I rarely if ever re-read books.
Nothing I've ever read before!
This was a first for me...downloaded it to my old Kindle. I didn't even know it had a volume button! I was pretty impressed with how long the battery lasted with the audio going, and even more surprised that it went into sleep mode, but the audio kept going! The narration was really good...He read it like he was the character, and since the book is first person, you kind of have to be that person. It was a little shocking at the end to have the character change. But...that's the way it's written! I almost quit before the epilogues, as that seemed to be the end of the story.
The story was really good...a super hero soap opera. Well thought out characters, with personalities that ranged widely. Who ever thought that any superhero besides Batman had an attitude?
Totally out of my normal genre, but I'll be reading more of Jim Bernheimer. And, I think I'll be looking for more books on Audible, because the price was great, and we do enjoy listening to stories when we travel. Great job all the way around!
The humor of the lead character, he was sarcastically funny.
The villain became the hero.
Overall a very good listen, hope there's a sequel.
Fun, funny and just plan cool this book is for anyone who enjoys superhero stories. Cal makes an awesome antihero and hearing his thoughts on things is just plan hilarious at times. I felt the ending was a bit rushed but all same this was a fun if a bit short, ride.
Fun listen!! Good characters and nice to see the bad guy get the girl :)
I wont say cause I dont like giving spoilers
Yes. in fact I did.
I was looking for something light and a little different. This book fit the bill perfectly. I enjoyed comic books as a kid but was not sure how interesting a novel about superheros would be. I will say I was pleasantly surprise.
I thought the character was fun to listen to. The reader did an awesome job of relating the high and lows of Cal through voice inflection and attitude. The story was very well written and I would listen to this story again as well as any sequels if/when written.
Any time Stacey and Cal interacted.
The anti-hero hero - Mechani-Cal.
To write that would give away parts of the story that deserves to be read on its own.
I am a web site developer and SEO specialist who likes to listen to books while brewing beer. Crazy I know.
Brains versus Brawn
The lead character was my favorite. He is a very flawed character and yet so likeable at the same time. His personality and perspective make it so you can forgive him for being a super villain. I think the best parts for me is when he is about the get the girl he reminds himself that guys like him just don't. It is not in the script so to speak. Does he get the girl? Well you will just have to listen yourself.
Talmadge Ragan's reading of Aphrodite was great and made the story even more fun. She pulled off devious, seductive, angry and tender emotions in a very realistic way. I normally am not a fan of multiple readers but in this case it worked well.
Uh No. This is not that kind of book. It just a fun book to listen to. No it will not change your life but does every book have to do that? It was more of an audible graphic novel and better than I expected. Great fun.
This made for a fast listen while driving around. It managed to keep me engaged enough to care about the main character. I'd recommend it.
This was a fun a fun listen. Not a majour break through or ground shattering. The reading was pretty good not the greatest. What it was, was a good break from from all the serious stuff.
funny , good story and likable caractors i bought it not expecting much and found myself wanting more . my only complaint is it wass too short
