The story was good or I would have enjoyed it more , but the narration was really bad
if the narrator can't do the voice then fine , don;t try it ruins the book
the male voices were real bad and the accents if that what they were suppose to be were even worse
I liked the story and and Gena Showalter is one of my favorite authors, it just wasn't the enjoyable listen it could have been
The story started out pretty slow. Listening to the narration for Nicolia was tedious and other then the word "mine", the character did not have much to say and used only 1 -3 words per sentence. I only made it about 1/3 of the way through. I ended up falling a sleep while listening and was not interested enough to go back and finish it.
The narrator completely ruined this book. She was horrible and I had to force myself to finish the book. She made the male characters sound like dumb, zombie robots. I can't believe the directors/producers let this terrible narration out the door. I will never listed to another book narrated by Genvieve Bevier.
I love Gena Showalter, but this is not one of her best works. She made Nicolai talk in very short phrases in the first half of the book, which made him very "me Tarzan, you Jane" in his speech pattern. This book could have been great is she fixed Nicolai's conversation patterns and the book had a narrator with some talent. Save your credits on this one and buy the book, if you want to read it.
While I love the Lords of the Underworld series, this was pretty great. Although really, anything Gena writes is worth reading (listening, whatever!).
I've read and listened to many Vampire books and this one was a great change of pace. Not the typical story line and gives one a new look at them. A good pace and makes you want to get the rest of the books in the story to see what happens. Interesting switch to an entire story. You will enjoy all 4 books.
My name is Isabel, I have been in love with audio books since 2008 when I had to stop reading books due to several brain surgeries.
I don't know what everyone is complaining about? We are well aware that these stories are not literary works of art. These are stories we listen to just for fun. Since I listen to these stories for "FUN" I say job well done! Very entertaining. I do like other narrators mu ch better, but this narrator didn't ruin the story for me.
I don't know which is the most responsible, the story or the narrator, but the males in this story sounded like cave men. This was awful. The story didn't have a chance. I have loved all of Showalter's stories. I don't understand how this one was produced this way.
it was to confussing
yes if i known they can under stand it.
it was ok
it has to much going on
I keep forgetting I can't stand the Romance genre's formulaic stupidity. My fault. I read a review, or blurb and mistakenly think it sounds interesting. And it might have been if it wasn't for the god-awful writing.
I have no idea if it got any better. They were so flat and stereotypical from the very start; just sounded like very other one-dimensional Romance character. I do remember the hero was chained up and "oiled" all the time and the (non-vampire) heroine got sexually aroused by the blood stains on something. That sort of stood out.
I can't answer that because I couldn't get past the first scene.
This, if nothing else, should serve to remind me how much I dislike this genre. And I love vampires and good vampire books. I like erotica. I've *written* erotica and vampire stories. I just cannot stand Harlequin books.
