"Minor key doesn't hide soap opera"
Almost all abandoned and/or severely neglected children achieve some happiness and stability in their adult lives only when they accept that they will have to lovingly and competently parent themselves to heal and prevail. In this novel, the author dredges up the prince of fairy tales to save the damsel in distress, giving us yet another man who loves purely, unconditionally and with blazing abandon.
If readers could have shared instead the heroine's years of hard work with a good therapist, this book could have been a strong testament to the resilience of the human heart and healing power of the truth-seeking mind.
It's heroine's dependence on a shining-armor clad knight for her story's resolution.
Competent, evocative, respectful of author's intent.
Disappointment and frustration.
"Wilted"
I don't believe she is accomplished enough an author to warrant a second try. Tara Sands did as well as anyone could.
No, I found her characters wooden and story pitted with ridicules flaws.
I like the distinct voices she provided for each character.
I would cut the part after, "This is Audible...."
"Poorly written and narrated"
The story was too exaggerated; the feeding of the baby was ridiculous as was the supposed impact of her choice of flowers.
Not my kind of book, just a download and learn situation
"This book was unique and interesting!"
We picked this book for book club and was unsure how much I'd like it. I did enjoy it much more than expected. The narration was good and the story was good, so together I was able to breeze through this book.
Tell us about yourself! Love to read but don't get to do enough of it. On the road a good bit.... that's when I listen!
"Perfect insight ..................."
Perfect insight to how many lives are lived by children who don't have parents and end up in this counrty's 'system'......
I will have to read this one again. Very realistic....... so heartbreaking...... beautiful.... You can almost smell the flowers as they are described.
I look forward to more writing by Vanessa Diffenbaugh.
"Flower can communicate sooo many meanings"
For me, one mark of a great book is that once you start reading it, you just can't put it down until you've read the last word. This was one of those books for me. Having read reviews that this was about a foster child , I was hooked on reading it. Yes, this was a great read about a foster child--- difficult situations, system failures, foster families in it for the wrong reasons; and perhaps most importantly---the emotionaly difficult time foster kids often have in trusting love and commitment. But more interesting yet, this was one of those books that I did not feel like I'd read dozens of times before. If foster children are NOT your thing, be assured you'll thoroughly enjoy the writing and story line anyway. The characters were very well developed, and I found myself cheering on for at least eight different people throughout the story. Then again, Victoria and Grant will not leave your heart for a very long time. Anyone reading my reviews will know I'm a champion of survivors! This book creates survivors from some horrible situations in very fascinating and believable ways!!! LOVED EVERY WORD! Looking forward to many more great reads by Vanessa Diffenbaugh!!
"The Love of Flowers"

The Semmerty
Victoria, Elizabeth
Family love of Flowers
I really enjoyed this the way it was from her child hood with her adult hood. That as a child who do not trust anyone. She was able to started with Elizabeth slowly. The the shop lady who gave her a chance. Her roommate in her small blue room Then Blake them having sex. Them having a baby. Her knowing her self loving to eat, knowning Blake will come looking for her. Her forgives of her self and the other. How she gave Merdiathe a hard time all the time.
"Great Book"
This book was recommended to me, by a good friend. I didn’t preview it or have any expectations. I found this book to be extremely hopeful and inspiring. The ending was PERFECT! Exactly how I wanted it to end. A great performance by Tara Sands. This is a simple and easy listen. LOVE IT!
Hi all. I'm in my 50's (that's relevant, i think), and I favor fiction. I like the british sensibility, and was introduced to the Forsyte Saga through audible ... loved it! I happen to also like Chinese writers, but they are not well represented yet at audible. Looking to follow readers with similar tastes ...
"a very beautiful, touching story"
this is a most unusual and moving story, beautifully narrated as well. i thought it was about flowers ... not really .. it is about family and courage.
