Great story. Great performance. Well constructed with 80s & 90s nostalgia throughout, done so well, it never feels forced or contrived.
I waited a while before I got this book, I finally gave it a chance based on other reviews. I'm glad I did because it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable books I have listened too this year.
The only reservation I had was with Wil Wheaton as the narrator. I had never heard him read an audio book before and wasn't sure if he could hold my interest. Man was I wrong, he did an excellent job reading this story.
As for the book itself, it was a very fun ride. Well paced and never left me bored or wishing it would get on with itself. In other words it kept me very entertained.
This book was amazing. loved the story and all the knowledge of the 80's. It made me think of my childhood and revisit my gamer past. thank you
I hesitated quite a bit before downloading this book because it seemed like it was going to be a book about video games. The reviews convinced me to give it a try, but it IS a book about video games. If that's your thing, you'll love it. If not, move on.
loved it, and hated it every step of the way. it completely encompasses what it means to be a gamer. the language and tone of everything was perfect. kept me guessing until the very end.
I think Wil Wheaton did an amazing job narrating this book. I'm not sure if the print version would be better unless you read it in his voice too.
The story was the best part about this book. I loved all the nerdy references.
any in-game scene was my favorite
Dystopian future needs the 1980's
I read this book after reading 'The Martian' and while it has a very different plot it is almost as good. It got to the point where I was halfway through and I basically retreated from the world to finish the book that day.
Buying my wife the written copy now, she's not an audiobook fan.
if you love technology and play World of Warcraft plus you grew up in the 80s, played D&D, had an Atari/Colecovision or Commodore 64, loved Monty Python and the Holy Grail and spent most of your time in an arcade, YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK! Seriously just use your book credit and immerse yourself in the story, you will not regret it. The plot, characters and narration are all incredible. I didn't think I could find a better book than The Lord of All Things until I heard this book! I hope they make it into a movie!
