I'll listen to this book over and over again because I just keep smiling throughout.
Despite this book breaking most of the fiction writing "rules," I couldn't have enjoyed it more. I don't know if it's how much I loved hearing about a bunch of my favorite things from when I was a kid, or just the way the action kept moving forward, but this book was a total win for me!
Born in the 80's and got flashbacks to my own holocron days. very meta with wil reading, he does a good job. characters are a bit thick but that's what you get with 18 year old kids. a bit surprised not more recent geek culture didn't bleed into the story mostly stayed in the 80's. left me wondering what the IRL world was really like how had culture developed what new things there were or had it all just stalled, mysteries never solved.
The story was one of the best and most original I've ever read/listened. The story is filled with incredible pop culture references and tie-ins. Phenomenal performance.
This book has so many enjoyable references that any Sci fi fan and child of the 80s would love. The story moves along, isn't dragged down by the side stories, and keeps you interested by letting you feel part of the in crowd since you can catch the references to "nerd" pop culture.
This book is absolutely amazing. The 80's references are spot on and made me super nostalgic. The story is completely addicting. And mirrors a lot of societies woes with the current climate of technology. I highly recommend this book. 2 thumbs all the way up!
Excellent digital coming-of-age story, kind of like a mid 21st century adaptation of a John Hughes movie, and a great read. The performance is bearable for most but only lovable for trekkies.
