I so love this series, this author, this book.
I will admit to not loving Mercy as much as Riley. I think it's because they are both so dominate. I felt like I needed to pick a side so I did. Riley. But I love the characters in this book and series. More than the other books in this series, this one spent more time with other characters and I loved it. The surprise for Lucas and Sascha, the moments with Judd, the time with Vaughn and his Red, Faith, -- all so wonderful. I loved it all.
This world is complex and full. I enjoy how the three groups (humans, shifter, and psy) are intertwined and the story is dynamic. So many bad guys that I don't trust for one minute, so many good guys that are totally part of my pack, so many new characters to meet and get to know, and so many fun, interesting relationships. Makes every book enjoyable and obsessive.
Yes, I'm obsessed. As soon as I finish one, I want the next one. And this one ended with a couple interesting little tidbits that have me really wanting to dig into the next.
Shifters are my favorite paranormal. And I loved that this book was about two shifters. Previously, we had mixed couples so I was interested to see how I'd feel about two shifters. Of course, one is from each of the major packs. There is definitely some rivalry between the wolves and cats. Mercy calls Riley wolf. He calls her kitty cat. What started as a dig ended as something more. It was interesting to see how these two would come to terms with things. It wasn't an easy road for them and I loved how they figured it out.
I will continue to read my obsession. I've been buying up this authors other big series to have on the ready for when this one is complete. Because I don't think this obsession is just for the series but for the author. She mixes incredible world building, full dynamic characters and fascinating stories to hold my interest every time.
If you love paranormal romance, then this author, this series needs to be on your short list to read soon.

I love the way that Nailini intermingled the Wolf and the cats. Riley and Mercy the powerhouse excitement that they brought to the story is just awesome. Bringing together the two different packs were a great twist to the story line.
Say something about yourself!
This is the story of Mercy and Riley....Mercy the Leopard and Riley the Wolf...I guess it was kind of like an interracial love story...um...with a cat and a dog? I think the story spent too much time in listing all the ways Mercy said she would never be with a wolf, and not enough on Riley. We heard a lot about Mercy and her past and her family, but I guess the author thought we had heard enough about Riley in book 1...but that was 6 books ago so a little bit of a refresher would have been nice.
All in all I kind of missed the Alpha's involvement in this, I would have taken Hawk or Lucas...just missing something...maybe it was lack of psy? Not sure, but it sounds like the next book is a doozey, so I think I'll take a bit of a breather from the psy gang.
If these ever go on sale you should get them all...they really are a fascinating world!

Who said a cat & dog can’t play nice?
Well if you are Riley and Mercy you might just kill each other before that happens. But funny thing about love, it turns you on your ass when you least expect it. :)
These two were great fun to read about. They may not be my favorite couple of the series (so far) but I did love them. They both push each other’s buttons almost to a fault. But both know when to hang there head in shame and beg for forgiveness.
As always Nalini writes an amazing story and Angela delivers an amazing reading of this story. These two are like Peanut Butter and Jelly, they go together so well.
If you have not started this series. For real, what is wrong with you? Read or listen this is a series you have to experience.
I purchased the book from Audible.com and this review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
Yes I love the series it is just that this book was not up to par with the rest of the series. The narrator is great!
The book Nikita sent to Sasha. Riley and Mercy .
Hawk can't wait to get to his book!
onto the next book in the series. I Love the series just not this book.
I love how this series keeps getting more and more complicated, especially fleshing out the overarching storyline. Every couple from the previous books shows up in some form in this book and I really like that. The main couple is a little different, since this is the first changeling/changeling we've had. I like how each new couple increases the complexity within the storyline and also enmeshes the two changeling packs together. I'm definately looking forward to future books in this series. Angela Dawe is a wonderful narrator for these books.
I spend 90+ minutes a day in my car, Audible makes it enjoyable regardless of what's happening in traffic. My taste varies from endurance fitness to economics and from to combat stories and romance novels.
Alright, I'll admit it, I'm hooked on the whole series, but this one was definitely the best so far for me. Great passion, a few interesting complications in the story-line, and characters I really enjoyed learning about.
I really enjoy the twists and turns of the power dynamics in this series. It fascinates me and always has me looking for deeper insights while mostly enjoying the fluff, too.
I'll admit, book 3 was the most challenging for me, but this more than made up for it with the passion starting off hot and heavy followed by so many interpersonal hurdles to overcome.
This one's a keeper. Sexy, smart, funny and with an ending that managed to resolve most of the tension without making me feel like the author was either reaching or oversimplifying. She stays true to the rules of the world she's created while making room for new discoveries and change that will keep me coming back for more. I wasn't completely sold on this series, even though I loved the first and third books, but this one has gotten me truly hooked.
She does a great job clearly differentiating the characters' voices without overdramatizing them.
It was a feel-good read, with enough plot beyond the main couple's romance that I didn't get bored.
Say something about yourself!
I'm kind of amazed with each book in this series. I have to make myself stop listening at some points and go to bed or go to work. I also have to make myself listen to other things in my library, so I only buy one of these at a time. I just can't say enough positive stuff about Nalini Singh's writing, her story and her world. The chemistry between her characters is just all but perfect. It's so real that it's easy to get caught up and just keep listening.
I'm still a bit annoyed by the overuse of 'however'. I really start to notice it by the last 10 chapters, but by them I'm so engrossed that I just shake my head and keep goingg.
