I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This is a great story. I've actually read this before (I think this is my 4th reread?) and loved it enough that I continued the series.
Myst is a Valkyrie and Nikolai is a (turned instead of born) Vampire and those 2 breeds usually don't mix. The story description gives the gist of the story and I don't want to get into spoilers but I will say that despite how things started, Nikolai and Myst find a bond between them and manage to get past their initial preconceived notions and misunderstandings to cement that bond. While I hurt for them both when things were rough, I loved how things ended and their HEA.
I greatly enjoyed this story! I loved both Nikolai and Myst and was rooting for them to work things out from the beginning. Things weren't always easy between them but I was so happy they worked things out in the end. Overall, I thought this was a great story and would recommend it. :D
* There were 2 narrators, a female for the parts from Myst's PoV and a male for the parts from Nikolai's PoV. I think both did a very good job.
I'm glad I got the audio version of this book because , the story idea was good, but without the narrators , overall it would only be a three.
I read this book many years ago and when all of the audiobooks in the series went on sale I bought them all up. The first one I played was the current release but after that I decided I wanted a refresher on the entire series and started the first book again using audible, best purchase to date!!! I absolutely loved having two narrator's!!! It adds a whole new dimension to an audiobook!
In the first book in the Immortals After Dark series we learn about the Lore and meet many of the future key players and fall in love with Kresley Cole's amazing world!!!
Downloaded the first two books b/c it was on sale. Didn't realize it was an "adult romance". Absolutely loved all of it. Such a great story and it's so well written. I don't know why everyone is hating on the male reader, he's very good. I didn't much like the female reader, she often read way way too quickly.
too smutty for me. I don't want it in my recommendations. of you are into this kind of book, you would probably like it. the readers are good and the story not terrible.
Even though I sort of got used to it in the end, having two narrators did not enhance this story, when the POV changed from her to him or vice versa it interrupted the moment and changed the feel of the characters which had a negative impact on the flow of the story (besides the female narrator read too fast) ...Perhaps if it was a longer, historical type book it would work... But for a short, sharp and sweet paranormal romance which this most definitely was, one voice would be better.
I really enjoyed the story. The simple fact that it is way shorter than most in this genre was a great thing (as well as catering to my ADHD tendencies) ... It didn't rave on endlessly with frilly feelings and pages of prose, it was hard and fast yet heart poundingly poetic and I actually loved it! Well worth a credit I think. And I'm getting the next one, I hope it lasts.
