Kyle Idleman has written a Christian classic on par with "All Of Grace" by Spurgeon. Written more for the current Christian then an unbeliever, but this book would be a great book for someone considering becoming a Christian.
If you don't wince at your own failings as a Christian "Fan" then you were not listening.
I really enjoyed this book and I was encouraged that he talked repentance and forgivenes about surrendering and salvation. This is truly a thought provoking book for everyone!!
The ability to pull you in with his stories
Yes! The book will make you laugh and cry!!
The book is as if Kyle Idleman is just talking to you and telling you a story.
It makes you think critically about your faith and your walk and what your priorities are.
He makes the book even more personal.
Thought provoking book for all Christians. This book will challenge your devotion and faith in God.... It will also let you re-evaluate yourself (thats assuming you are not already totally delusional) as a true believer/follower of Christ. I need to buy copies of this book and share to some spiritual leaders in my country.
I like the way Kyle packages the transformations of people from fan to followers.
Every story moved me. After each story, I examined my own walk.
A must read. A lot of fans out there that think they are following.
It is one of my favorite all time books.
It makes you think. He has several good points and has made me re-evaluate my life as a Christian.
The entire book.
Yes, I have actually listened to it many times all in one sitting.
For me it is impossible to sum up this audio book in 3 words. So let me start by telling you I have heard Kyle Idleman before in an incredible dvd series call H20 A JOURNEY OF FAITH
from City on a Hill Productions and THE EASTER EXPERIENCE AND THE CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE. A MUST SEE FOR EVERYONE!
I really enjoy his message and how he helps to explain things so you understand. Just like the title, many people might not understand when you hear someone say they are not a fan of Jesus...continuing to listen to the audio or reading the book, you begin to see what the difference is between a Fan and a Follower...TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN AND ALSO LOOK INTO THE DVDS I LISTED.
I really enjoyed this book, it hurt my pride but has motivated me to be a follower and take up a cross dailly, I am from Houston Tx. area and now follow the sermens from Kyle Idleman's church.
Yes, already have. It has great insight and tells you what you know you should do. Has great stories and examples.
I liked the stories all of them. They all stood out.
Every chapter was my favorite.
It made me think seriously about my faith so I would say my reaction was introspective.
Wow, I don't have much company with this rating, if I were giving stars for the authors intention, then I'd give 5 stars. I think the message is very important, but so is hope and so are solutions.
Reading the book I felt like I was told I'm failing, you're failing, everyone is failing at this and too bad. I kept waiting for the good news, how easy (or hard) it is going to be to change, but somewhere somehow I missed that part, if it was there.
For readers interested, may I suggest Craig Groeschel's "The Christain Atheist". Essentially the same message, but with the solution and even more importantly HOPE. He doesn't just tell you why your are failing, but what to do about it, how to turn your life around and be a real Christian.
