I read the rest of the series before reading this one, and it didn't make any difference - and in fact I'm glad I did it the way I did, because this is very much a side story, not part of the "main arc". Nevertheless I found the story enjoyable once I got around to listening to it!
I wish I could get paid to listen to books....
This is the third book in the Monster Hunter series, very entertaining, great story .
Oliver Wyman's performance is great, he is an asset to this story.
if your a Jim Butcher fan and you have ran out of Dresden files books to read. This series is a good substitute, and just as entertaining as any I have listened to recently.
Yes I would. This book being number 3in the monster hunter series is a breath of fresh air considering it focuses on earl harbinger instead of Owen Pitt which even if it was I would haveno complaints because the past two books where centered around him and they were fantastic!!
For me earl harbinger is the obvious choice because he is such an intricately rich character full of surprises. He was already one of my top two favorites in the series before I finished this book.
He does an amazing job embodying the characters whether it be earl harbinger or one of the monsters he is killing. This man truly has a gift for story telling. He truly does a fantastic job giving every character their own unique voice that is all their own. I can envision every character in my mind in a very unique and fun way because of Wyman.
The end when heather is taken from earl to earn her puff exemption by serving time as a member of special task force unicorn. That last part of the book really makes you feel for earl. He finally finds someone after being alone for over 80 years and their ripped from him to be a slave for the government.
Also I really enjoyed nicoli's character. Larry corria built a rich and complex character who you think is just another bad guy in the beginning only to find out he has another side to him as well that's not wholly evil. Also I can't wait to see what happens between Jason Lococo and Owen Pitt when they finally see each other as I am 99% positive Owen is the fighter that fought him and caused him to lose his eye. It will be interesting to see them work out their past an hopefully see loco integrate into MHI. He seems like he would make a great member of Owens team as long as they can settle their differences.
Yes, after listening to the first two books I can't imagine any other way.
Being focused on Earl Harbinger was fun.
At first I was worried that I would tire of his accent but luckily Earl is a man of few words.
The Russian was awesome.
The book is quiet gruesome...
This books steps away from the main MHI story line with Owen Pitt at its center for a story that focuses on Earl Harbinger, the leader of MHI. This book is by far my favorite of the MHI series so far. I couldn't stop listening and finished the entire thing in a single day.
As with all MHI books it is filled with lots of action & humor and plenty of guns, guts, and monsters. If you are an MHI fan you can't go wrong with this one.
I'm a fan of fantasy both epic and contemporary, I cant get enough of it!
Top 5 percent.
The new point of view. Earls story is super interesting.
Earl. Especially when he kills the luscus.
You've never wanted to be cursed so much.
Yes and no. I have both versions and each has its good and bad points. Just depends on your reading habits and preferences.
When Earl gets his wolf back!!
The big final fight scene with Earl Heather and the Alpha
Earl is my second favorite character in the series. Wyman nails Earls voice just like I imagined it when I read the printed version. This story is all about Earl and it is great.
Say something about yourself!
This book is great!! It tells us more of Earl's past and how sometimes things from your past can sometimes come back to haunt you. Loads of action and tons of fun, this book is very entertaining and I recommend this book to anyone who loves action and werewolves.
This book is Earl's story, the leader of MHI. It flips back and forth between past and present. We learn about the past when he first becomes a werewolf and the present when he goes after another werewolf from his past without his team. This book was a lot more violent and gory than the first two. In the present an isolated town is taken over by werewolves, and not your typical werewolves. These are what might be called undead werewolves. Amongst all the violence there was a nice storyline and I just wish the ending could have been a little different. So if you're really turned off by blood and gore I wouldn't recommend this book because there was a lot of it.
The narrator did a nice job.
In the top 5%
Earl; he is so cool
Yes, the others in this series. I think he is excellent; you hardly notice his "voices" even though he is using them to keep you in tune with who is talking.
Yes, even though I have to work....what a luxury that would be!
I was worried that this story would be as good as the others in the series when I realized that it was based on just Earl and not the others characters. However, it was just as interesting and I "bonded" with Earl in this story. He is awesome!
