In LOVE w/audiobooks. I find myself counting down the days untill my credits arrive. Married w/kids. Dental Hygienist
This book was interesting but a bit slow. I finished the story but one I was forcing myself to finish it before I downloaded something new. I enjoyed hearing about how midwives were viewed in the past especially because when I listened to this book I myself was pregnant with a midwife. I would not read another book by the same author but do not regret listining to this one.
I loved this story when I read and listened to it in German. I think the story retains its interest in English but the translation is a bit lack-luster. The narrator has a great voice and reading style but seems somehow more suited to American history than German in 1659.

I thought it was ok. The narration was good, but the actual story suffers from the problem of historical fiction where all of the heros are more modern than all the bad guys (which are hopelessly stuck in the old ways of doing things.)
But I listened to it the whole way through and enjoyed it. But I probably will not be reading the rest of the series
I hope the next book in this series will have more promise. This first book covered ground about witches and witch hunts that has been better done by other authors. With that said, it did establish the characters in this series and they have great potential. I iked the characters, the setting and the premise within the timeline; so I am looking forward to reading the next book with the thought it will hold more promise, e.g., a story/plot that is better thought and plotted.
This book was very good. The author tells an interesting story and the narrator was very pleasant. There are a few slow spots in the story but over all it's worth the listen.
