I have read that this is Dianne Duvalls first book. If that is true, well done. I thought the story was a good one, the action kept pace with the book and the characters likable. I also felt that compared to the the other books I have "read" recently in this category, I felt it was a bit slow and the action not as robust as I had been accustomed.
I enjoyed Kirsten's narration of the book. I felt that the narrater carried me through, not the "read" itself. I did however like the lead into finding out who the mystery woman was and hope her existence comes to light in the second series, though the summary doesn't mention her at all.
If you have "read" any of the other books I have reviewed and are reading one of Diane's for the first time, I would caution that her pace is a little slower than others but I would definately urge you to read on.
I will be purchasing the second series, in hopes to find out more about the mystery woman and to see if the pace changes any!
One last thing, thank you Diane for not cutting the book off abruptly at the end when Seth gives Sarah and Roland the good news. I appreciate it!
I love this book, sexy and interesting, a nice page turner, I've already ordered Book 2. Hero and Heroine strong and tender; I fell in love with them. A good rainy day read.
I have listened to many books and this series is my favorite by far...I can't wait till the next one!
It's not that I mind when stories start off a bit slow, as the author gives details and insights in the setting, characters, environment, etc. - but this story starts immediately. I loved it! You're only 2 or 3 minutes into the book and the action has already started. You get to know the characters through their actions, instead of prolonged thoughtful monologes (again, not that I mind those). You jump in with both feet from the get go and the story stays fast paced, interesting and extremely well read. I'm really excited to have come across what I believe is going to be a fantastic new series.
Good characters and storyline. If you're into vampires, but like a different angle this is it.
Roland's great accent!
I found this book to be a great listen, well performed, with a well written story line. I enjoyed this very much and am waiting for the next in this series. If you like Nallini Singh's series, you will like this one as well.
Yes, this book is well written, and very hard to put down. I didn't want the story to stop, when I realized that this was the First Book of the series and there wasn't another one to follow at the moment, It saddened me.
I can't just pick one of the characters, because I really thought they all were good. They finsihed each other, lets just say that.
Yes, Her story reading was very well rounded with all characters, and I liked the way she could separate each of them so well, very believable.
I laughed a few times, but didn't cry. Some of the storylines, were just really funny.
When will Book 2 of this series be released? I can't wait.
I bought this book because of "L"'s review, she knows her stuff. this was a great read, great narration too. Can't wait for more from Dianne Duvall.
I read this as an ebook and liked it...kinda'. I planned to read the next in the series when it was released because I was interested in the secondary characters--not the overall arc. When it did release, I wasn't motivated to purchase it anymore.
I got this audio book on sale for $4.95. At that price I thought I would give it another try. I just couldn't finish it. Once again, the H/h didn't hold my attention when other characters were introduced. I wish I could trust the author enough to take a chance on the next book, but I can't. It's really too bad, because once again I want to know more about the other characters.
