Sure. Sometimes the first of a series is lame.
No, first one. But she's a great narrator.
Listen to another one?
The interaction between Roland and the other characters.
I loved Roland's personality,but I enjoyed Sarah's determination.
She blended in and you forgot about the reader. It was the characters that were talking.
Lets see, how to describe this story as I don't want to offend the aurthor in any way but as I was listening to the story it felt predictable. Please don't get me wrong in that it was good and good enough that I purchased the second book but there wasn't much I couldn't forsee coming ahead of the story, so that is why I didn't give it a much higher rating.
Narrators can make or break even the best of stories. Kristen Potter has a very pleasant voice and her depictions of the characters was well done. I would listen to another story by her again.
In the present day it is very hard to create a different vampire story. The genre is extremely popular and many of the stories have familiar tendencies. Now having said that I adore the fantasy genre the most and consider this book / books to be enjoyable but not great.
Perhaps an immature audience can appreciate this, but it was a cheap ride-along with frequent attempts of sexual tension trying to redeem it. I quess better than a Harlequin.
Depth would help.
Fairly good read, especially since it would hard to keep a straight face/voice reading it.
I love stories! You read it or I will; show it to me in a theater or on my TV. Entertain me with well-developed characters & plots. I'm in!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I looked at it first because of the narrator. The synopsis sounded interesting so I clicked. The story starts out with a bang and just keeps going. I love the Immortals, they all have great personalities and the banter between them is hilarious.
I have a 40-minute commute each way M-F and listening to a book makes the time fly. I even sat in the car after I got home several times to get to the end of a scene in this story.
I am getting the second installment today to begin on the way home, yay!! My thanks to Dianne Duvall who wrote a superb story and to Kirsten Potter who made it come alive!
I enjoy reading -romance, mystery & paranormals. Some of my favorite audios are: Harry Potter, Fablehaven, Cat & Bones & JD Robb.
The organic, green stuff was a bit preachy and disruptive to the story.
Ami & Seth were the most interesting parts of this story.
HAS to have a follow-up as this one was left with a cliff hanger.
I have read that this is Dianne Duvalls first book. If that is true, well done. I thought the story was a good one, the action kept pace with the book and the characters likable. I also felt that compared to the the other books I have "read" recently in this category, I felt it was a bit slow and the action not as robust as I had been accustomed.
I enjoyed Kirsten's narration of the book. I felt that the narrater carried me through, not the "read" itself. I did however like the lead into finding out who the mystery woman was and hope her existence comes to light in the second series, though the summary doesn't mention her at all.
If you have "read" any of the other books I have reviewed and are reading one of Diane's for the first time, I would caution that her pace is a little slower than others but I would definately urge you to read on.
I will be purchasing the second series, in hopes to find out more about the mystery woman and to see if the pace changes any!
One last thing, thank you Diane for not cutting the book off abruptly at the end when Seth gives Sarah and Roland the good news. I appreciate it!
I love this book, sexy and interesting, a nice page turner, I've already ordered Book 2. Hero and Heroine strong and tender; I fell in love with them. A good rainy day read.
I have listened to many books and this series is my favorite by far...I can't wait till the next one!
