I wasn't sure about this new series, but now I can say, I like IT! I will be reading the entire series. I would recommend this series.
Another new way to view vampires and immortals. Vampires are created because of a virus and depending whether they had some kind of ability before they were bitten, like being able to heal or telepathy, will determine whether they turn into an immortal or a vampire. Another difference is immortals need blood to heal and can't stand the sun, but they can eat regular food. The immortals being the good guys and the vampires the bad guys. The immortals are also stronger than the vampires.
This book told the story of Roland and Sarah. Roland is an immortal who everyone considers a pain in the you know what and antisocial. He had been caught by some minions of vampires and was being staked out waiting for the sun to come up to fry him. Sarah comes along and saves him.
This was just a fun story to listen to to see the developing relationship between Roland and Sarah. Of course, there was a lot of fighting between the good guys and bad guys so it was a bit gory in places.
If you are new to this series, and as this is the first book that is likely the case, I want to take the time to say this is a great group of books. To date I have read the first three but this one remains my favorite. This book is full of action, on the battlefield, in the bedroom, in the shower . . . . . The protagonists are well developed characters. The male is prickly, a loaner and paranoid the female is tiny, tough and smart. The author does an excellent job of explaining paranormal elements without heading into Michale Crichton territory, not that there is anything wrong with that, but might have been a little much for this book. The secondary cast of characters is strong and gives the author many leads for new stories that will intrigue her readers. The narration was well done and wasn't distracting.
I am a book junkie...I read and enjoy a variety of stories, so please don't "define me" by one book or review! :)
This story is a good example of well-done (supernatural) paranormal romance if you like to "escape" with this kind of thing. I enjoyed the characters, Roland and Sara, and the relationship that grew between them. The other characters were good and did help "flesh-out" the meat of the story. The drama and the action was engrossing and compelling. The writing is well done, I feel the story is well-paced and plotted.
The narration was well done. I recommend this one!
Sexy, Sweaty, Sexy, Hot :) Very good story, I would have to say this is my favorite book from the entire series.
This book is a wonderful start to a new series. The various characters that are introduced in the story while it unfolds and how their puzzle pieces are linked though time gives you just enough to anticipate the next book. This story opens with action right from the start with a passion and love that quickly develops in the midst of all the madness. Very good read, if you have to put it down you will be looking for a good stopping point each time.
Only if they weren't easily offended by bad language and some political/environmental stances. Overall the book was pretty good, not great, but good. I have read other vampire romance series that I enjoyed more. For me the biggest turn off was the foul language, particularly the F word. Also, the sex scenes were more graphic than passionate which was disappointing.
the most interesting aspect was the view point taken on Vampires. The least was how predictable the plot was for the main characters.
Her performance was great.
The book is okay, not great and not horrible.
Say something about yourself!
Overall pretty good book. I can't rave about it, but it's a good plot, good narration. I could have used a little more grit though. Apparently I liked it enough to put book #2 on my wish list. :)
While patiently (impatiently) waiting on my standard authors I came across this series.
Sound interesting so I used a credit and purchased it, it was definately worth the credit.
Hot male hero and a strong female charactor. Lots of humor, which i enjoy.
I am a big fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Midnight Breeds and Dark Hunters and I like this new series. I will be purchasing the following books.
I am a Trubie from Philly!! As you can see Eric is my fav, swoon!!! I love all Philly Teams, and sports!! And my favorite past time is reading.
I have listened to this story twice in a week and will listen again!! I fell in love with the characters the fist time I read this book. The accents are crazy awesome!!
The fact that everyone considered Roland Anti-Social, and I'm a little anti-social. I can identify with him on that.
Seth is hands down my favorite, the accent that Kirsten gives him is terrific!!! She is the reason I chose this series in the first place.
If I could have listened in one sitting it would have been done. But, with my schedule I had to break it up.
This book, and series is worth getting. Kirsten is an awesome preformer, and Dianne has a great series. This book really surprised me, I did not think I would love it as much as I did. I'm so glad I picked it up, and took a listen. You should too.
