I got this on a whim fearing that it would be at best a poor attempt at the trending super natural thing. But, I was grabbed right away and couldn't put it down. I totally enjoyed it. The characters are interesting and well developed. And, it's a great story that continues in the other books. I have since read the three that are currently out and await the next.
Yes I would certainly recommend this book lots of action and romance without smut
I like the changes in voice and expression
Yes wanted to finish it but couldnt very good
If you enjoy paranormal romance, you'll enjoy this book. The story wasn't anything that stood out, but I was entertained.
There were gaps and thoughts were not always carried through, however it grew on me. In the beginning there was too much of two characters, the two having frequent sex with no plot to draw you in. Other books have more plot to go with the romance and sex. If you stick with it, other characters and a plot develops. I guess there is or will be another book because a girl is brought into many scenes, she is eluded to being special, in the end a paper is passed around with every one gasping over intelligence about her. That is a cheap trick to get people to buy the next book.
I have listen to many books with vampires and supernatural. This one is weak.
The last half of the book is entertaining. Other books are more put together like Jeaniene Frost, Jim Butcher and Deborah Harkness.
The narrator's performance was done well.
I bought it on sale for 4.95 it was worth it. It could use more detail in the battle scenes and humorous self talk. Banter between characters is never over done.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
I've listened to this book multiple times (I loved it so much I had to listen more than once). The characters are believable (assuming you can believe in the supernatural) the romance is sweet and sucks you in and the action keeps things interesting. I've listened to many books and this is one of my all time favorites. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great action/romance. This book gets 2 thumbs up from me!
The male character in this story is a bit too emotional with some significant baggage from his past. His is sensitive about how his lady views him and is scared that she will fear him so she needs to keep reassuring him (I mean really not my thing). The story line is quick to start and then slows down a bit too much, of course it picks up by the end of the book.
This is just awful. From predictable characters (the male and female lead being so alike in habit and thought as to only be distinguised by gender, eyecolor, skin tone and size) to the authors obvious green agenda, this book is painful to listen to. Not that I am against green technology, and I do support organic, but with this much, she should have set it in a horticultural lab, or hybrid transportation's R&D. Perhaps two scientists going at it intellectually, arousal sparking though debate... oh wait! They would have to have a difference of opinion to have a debate! Silly me! What kind of romance would have a difference of opinion between the male and female leads?
I also have a problem with the completely unflawed "Immortals": basically a cleaned up vampire that still needs blood... just not enough to be anything more than erotic in an s&m sort of way. I could see the plot as it unfolded, and swear that I could write schlock like this... if I could respect myself in the morning....
The reader wasn't much better; I think if anything, her delivery of this bad material made it one of the most kitschy things I have ever heard.
Admittedly, I do not usually read or listen to paranormal romance, and would not have, if it wasn't for the crazy sale going on at the time. But really; this was so god-awful! Have some respect for your audience, and at least give us characters with more than one dimension! There are outright fairy tales with more depth than this book.
While pandering to Creationists, Ms Duvall writes a pale imitation of Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter Series.
Sure. Sometimes the first of a series is lame.
No, first one. But she's a great narrator.
Listen to another one?
The interaction between Roland and the other characters.
I loved Roland's personality,but I enjoyed Sarah's determination.
She blended in and you forgot about the reader. It was the characters that were talking.
