This book is so very accurate and just honest. Everything currently happening, and not happening in my life, this book has opened my eyes brightly to my truth, and energized me, for my fight against resistance. Also, the narrator, was awesome!
I like to see this work as motivating writers for increased production. The author makes it clear that it also applies to other areas of human endeavor. Best motivational book I have ever heard.
It could be but I liked how the sarcasm and enthusiasm came from the audible version.
Turning pro is all about transition from and amateur or part timer to a full time pro. That mental shift I found very rewarding. What are your actions representing? Are you working like a pro or amateur? Are you making art? Hiding from your critics or embracing them. It's all about doing the work and overcoming the resistance.
I intend to give this audiobook at least another several listens, especially since it's so short and easy to listen to. It takes a difficult topic and digests it into simpler terms that are easy for everyone to understand. It gives a name ("resistance") to the lack of productivity or ambition that plagues most people.
Steven Pressfield introduces the concept of "the professional". While not exactly a "character", the professional embodies the antithesis of the concept he refers to as "resistance"
George Guidall is a great overall reader. No major complaints!
I'll need to read it again, but The War of Art makes me feel better about myself. It's a good source of external motivation and ambition.
Even if you don't consider yourself an artist or a creative person, you should really read this book. If anything, it'll help you become whatever it is you want to be.
Distilled essence of perspirinspiration Gold from the same vein as THE ARTIST'S WAY and WRITING THE NATURAL WAY. Highly recommended!
