One of the best books I've ever listened to.
I didn't know how he would do everyone's voices especially the women but I have to say I am so impressed by this man and what he has done with this. He's 92! I have really enjoyed this book and looking forward to listening to the others. I had not seen Game of Thrones until I watched the box set on Sky and am now hooked!
Brilliant story telling - great characters which he brings to life and works very well. I salute you Mr Dotrice.
"truly a 5 star book"
have seen so many books on here that have 5 star ratings, in my opinion this is the true benchmark for a quality listen. the characters come to life with their own distinct accents. don't know how the narrator did but it was true escapism.
thanks you. I'm sure I'll enjoy the series as much as I did with the first installment
An amazing book by George r r Martin and a spectacular performance from Roy dotrice!
I listen to audio books as I'm dyslexic and feel I'm missing out on the world of books and literature.
Book is expertly narrated and the more I listen the more I want to listen! Highly addictive and recommended, though my friends/family are getting a bit annoyed with me having earphones in all the time! ;)
Action. Fantasy. Gripping.
I love following the activities of Aria, intrigued to find out what happens.
I like his tone of voice for this book. It is fitting.
Wish I could - but I look forward to my snippets every day!
"The north remembers"
looking for potential clues that will indicate how the series will end.
Geneology of the royal families of Europe.
Historical, Wet, Enthusiastic
Nah, its more a commute read
A great introduction to this wonderful series of books. I have watched up to Season 6 on TV, and now going through the books via Audible. I really love the story and the narrator.
very gripping book. started a little slow with the intro of all kinds of characters but then it became so exciting and gripping that you can't leave it. i started watching the hbo season to get a vision of the characters but couldn't survive after couple of episodes. the series hasn't done any justice with the book at all. at many occasions, it even twisted the story wrongly. hated it, love the book. now going for the next book in the series. this one finished at very exciting place. now am forced to buy the next book. the story hasn't finished at a satisfactory end in this book.
his imitation of so many characters, each with distinct voice.
no, but did get me hooked.
the voice of the reader is good. it takes a little time to get used to the accent but later you never notice it.
"Great Book, Poor Reading"
The depth of the world is immense; Martin really puts a lot of thought into the world he's created.
The different narrative perspectives allow the book to pace itself well and you get to see everything that's going on in Westeros, sometimes more than once with a different perspective, which makes it even more engaging.
Yes, because his voices give life to the characters but the editing needs work as he messes up sometimes (like calling Joffrey 'Geoffrey') and nobody went back to re-record it which is pretty distracting at times.
"Excellent introduction to the books"
Really enjoyable version of the book. After watching the TV series first and not having time to read the books at the moment this was excellent source of entertainment on long drives.
I found myself hanging back in the car to hear what was happening as I didn't want to miss anything!
