Totally addicted to Audible.
I don't think I have anything else by this author but this book had me up all hours because I could not stop listening. Thanks for putting this one on sale Audible - it was great. The story was exciting, sad and triumphant. Scott Brick was exceptional.
A very enjoyable plot that holds the reader's attention. The characters are interesting, the narration quite enjoyable, and the story keeps on track without the burden of "thought you were done, didn't you?" type of multiple endings that too may thriller writers enjoy.
I would listen to this again.
Plot was very engaging and many twists and turns that kept me wanting to listen to find out what would happen next.
If you like greg iles you will enjoy this book.
What can I say besides that I loved this book! Each page brought me closer to finding out what this mystery was all about (but that was part of the fun in reading it in the first place). The book has a lot to do about money and ambition, family, and doing the right thing. Kept me guessing until the very end. What a ride!
It gripped me from the beginning and didn't let go. At times it was almost upsetting, it was so suspenseful. I often listen to books to fall asleep, but this one kept me awake. While the story line was pretty improbable, I didn't really care. What I did care about is that the characters were true and had depth. I think they were all true to themselves and their choices rang true to me. I totally didn't see the resolution coming and I liked that too. Highly recommend this book if you like the thriller genre.
Not your usual. I had this on my wish list for a long time, finally took a chance and downloaded it. I was very glad for a story that kept my attention and kept me guessing.
The Woodcutter perhaps. The character's backstory is as riveting as the present threat.
The introduction of the main character's childhood friend.
No extreme reaction. Just a good, solid, well-told tale.
The author does a very good job of weaving events and characters into focus. No wasted effort, everything ties neatly here and there. The result is a satisfying story with characters you slowly get to know and like, or not, as the case may be with the heavies. Even then, you are confronted with a sympathetic thread or two.
Love books, all kinds, all shapes, all formats! Audiobooks have made my daily commute so much less stressful! Major fan of Audible.
Stayed on the edge of my seat througout. Would never have guessed who was after this man or his daughter or why.
Shep - the safe cracker - whose motto of "the only things that matter in life are stamina & loyalty".
I think Scott Brick could read me the back of a cereal box and I would stay interested!
A strong case for the fact that life does not necessarily have to "repeat itself"!
Loved the book. Am going to download more Gregg Hurwitz as soon as I have credits!
Although some people didn't like Scott Brick, I didn't mind him as an narrator. I have listened to other books he has done and like his calm style. I think the main character in the book has been working hard, most of his adult life, to keep his life looking as average as possible. I think the restrained narration brings those feelings to the character. I liked the suspense in this book. You are surprised in many of the plot twist and most of them feel believable. It is one of those books you can see easily turning into a movie. The only thing I found annoying was the daughter character. She was way too precocious for 8. Over all, I think it was a credit well spent. Not the best book I've ever read but a good read none the less.
Lots of times I start a book in the car and can go weeks before I am traveling again and pick it up. Sometimes I can't even remember what the book was about and have to rewind it. "You're Next" was the type of thriller I couldn't put down. I listened to it on walks, doing dishes and any chance I got.
Gripping, I loved listening to it but I never listen to a book twice
Excellent thriller- john hart novel
