The plot is never completely reviled until the last few chapters and then it unravels fast. By then you have to know how it ends. For most of the book the story kept me glued and I did like that it was not a cop story or vampire story. The story moved along and those are the kind of books I seek out. Good one!
I will listen again. I was surprised that the story and performer were as good as they were. I bought this one on sale and hadn't read the author before. I was pleased with my choice.
i am addicted to audio books. I always have one on in my car, or on my i-pod when I'm cleaning or shopping. I always have loved to read
attention getting, great
The plot was good,, and very hard to figure out until the end what was happening. I liked it and will add this author to my list of must read.
Scott Brick is how I pick most of the books I read. He makes even boring books bareable.
I did, but it's not possible
I would of given it an all star five but the only thing that bothered me was that it seemed to be a bit mellow dramatic, the writing and the narration made it a bit tiring to listen too, but the story is good and so I couldn't t stop
Yes, I really like this author.
The Survivor, stories were both about a family.
Yes, The Survivor. Both books were excellent.
Devotion, Loyalty, Thrilling
I liked how it kept me on the edge of my seat - the plot and the storyline were clear and un-muddled. All of the details in the book were presented as something that could really be believable and true. I also like that this author was considerate enough to end the book. There have been a few books recently that I've listened to where the author just left me hanging at the end. That is not very nice after listening to their book for 20 hours. I also found the characters to be believable and I grew attached to them as the book went on. I love that a book can do that to you.
It was very nice - being that a man narrated this and the complete story is in a mans point of view. He did a very nice job with his narration.
This was one of the best books that I've listened to in quite a while. I NEVER post ratings - never. But, I just had to after hearing this story - it ranks right up there as one of my #1's for sure. Great job Greg Hurwitz!
Exciting, Thrilling, Satisfying!
Shep... Intriguing character, Dark but loyal and trustworthy as a friend. I would love a book about him and his past...
He is always on!
It only took me 3 days...so yes
I loved this book because I cared about the characters and what happened to them, the only negative is that it took me a few chapters to get into it, actually I rewinded several times in the beginning thinking I had missed somthing. That may because I listen while I am at work (gardening) and possibly was distracted but it is definatley worth sticking with.
I usually can guess what the plot of the "mystery" is in a book and still enjoy a good mystery but I did not guess it in this book. The plot made it all click in the end. Intersting premise.
Say something about yourself!
Couldn't put down. The book had me on the edge of my chair the entire time. From the initial character build-up to the exciting conclusion.
I'm a big fan of James Patterson, John Sandford, Patricia Cornwell, etc. but after so many editions, they have all begun to sound too much alike. Gregg Hurwitz is new to me, but I became an immediate fan. His stories are original with plots that leave you guessing until the very end. A refreshing change.
Scott Brick is "the Man." His inflections bring each character to life in a way that I've found no other narrator to equal.
This book kept me interested from start to finish. Difinitely worth giving it a try
Hurwitz was new to me. I chose the book based on listener reviews. Because I was unfamiliar with his style, every corner I turned held a new surprise. Great picture of the quagmire of life...one moment you are high and dry on shore, the next you are up to your neck in the muck and sinking fast. Very entertaining.
I can always depend on Scott Brick to punch up a story with his "in your face" tone. He can capture the anger, fear and relief in the characters better than if I just read the book.
