This one had me holding my breath with suspense in some parts. If you are looking for a fast-paced gripping adventure/suspense novel, you will enjoy this book. I liked it so much that I immediately downloaded Hurwitz's previous novel as well. ,
I didn't know what the mystery was about until towards the end. And it kept my attention!
If I tell u it would wreck it for u.
I find Scott to be a fairly good reader but his somewhat melancholy monotone-sound bugs me sometimes.
Some of the things the characters go through sometimes over the top but still a great listen!
From Scott Brick's melodramatics to the plodding storyline to the laughable twist that tries to tie the book together, this book was just not for me. I kept waiting and waiting for the story to take off but it never did. By that time I had so much time invested that I just wanted to see how it ended. I should've stopped after the first hour.
Perhaps it was a hangover from the brilliance of Ghostman which I listened to before this book and thoroughly enjoyed. I found myself rewinding parts of this book not because I wanted to relive a moment, but because my mind had wandered and I lost the story. And why would the author name the wife Annabel and the daughter Katherine? Not a big deal but one of those annoyances that took me half the book to get straight.
I have already recommended this book to my family. It keeps you interesting the whole way through. I would love to see it in a movie.
Yes it was hard to put the headphones down. I usually listen while I drive and couldn't wait to go somewhere so I could listen to more of it.

Reading some of the first reviews, I thought I should continue reading. Then I got to the ones who said what I was already thinking. I will quit wasting my time. Scott Brick can be too breathy and dramatic; and this is a perfect example. Not every paragraph can be that dramatic. I got very tired of it. Then when the author commented on "the middle class instead of the rich a**h***s;" I knew I was out of my element. That wasn't necessary.
I am sure Hurwitz/Brick will be a big hit, just not with us. I made it about 2 hours.
I don't know becuase I haven't read the print version.
The plot has some very interesting turns. It made me want to keep listening even when I should have been doing other things!
I can't say because that would spoil the book for others.
Get this audiobook. You won't be disappointed!
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
Intense, gut-wrenching and sorrowful....
When the father had to leave his daughter....I cried several times....
This narration was awesome, all the characters came to life.
This listen was so intense I had to pause and listen to something happy....
I highly recommend......
I wasn't expecting the outcome. Was a nice plot twist!
I think Scott did a wonderful job of portraying the nearly-deaf best friend, Shep.
Say something about yourself!
This would make a good movie - Excellent Book
I really enjoyed this book. Well worth a listen.
I truly enjoyed this book. The narrator brought it to life for me. I read reviews on other books about how the narrator distracted from their stories. This book is quite the opposite. I can not imagine this book without hearing the narrator.
The story was ok and in some places predictable and in others it felt like it dragged. Don't get me wrong, it was a good story with great characters but it suffers from what most other books suffer from, how to give enough backstory while keeping you interested. This one had parts that felt slow to me.
The narrator made this book great. I am looking for other books narrated by Scott Brick!
