My favorite part of the story was trying to figure out who really was the bad guy.
My favorite scene was when the Super Soldiers were trying to subdue St. George and he says "I've been faking it".
I'm a big fan of horror, sci-fi, dystopian, and post apocalyptic novels.
Superheroes and zombies.
If you like superheroes and zombies, then this is the book for you! It's like a combination of Watchmen and 28 Weeks Later.
Who would have thought that combining zombie fiction with super hero fiction would be such a successful combination. Two great tastes, but who would have thought that they would taste great together. A very entertaining listen. Peter Clines is an author to watch.
I wasn't expecting another book... I don't know why, but because of that I didn't keep the book fresh in my mind. I was surprised to see a second book and afraid I'd be lost and would have to re-listen to the first one. No, I fell right back in with everyone after a few moments of minor confusion. It's done in the same "then" and "now" style as the first, which drives me up the wall. Though I admit it always comes together and makes sense, so I appreciate it at the end. This time it left an OBVIOUS opening for a third book. I'll definely keep an eye out for that. I've always tried to stay away from apocalyptic zombie reads... But alas, I've finally been dragged in.
A perfect fusion of Superheros and Zombie Apocalypse. What others promised and failed to give, this delivers in spades.
Character back stories
Well, the Story was better than the first as he continued with great character background info and added more excitement to the Melee's. But, well I don't liked to go into details and ruin things so all I will say is the ending is non-existant. It would be like building up to a Show's Finale and then canceling it. No ends tied up no plot ending, the book just ended. Did the Author run out of time before print? Was hit by a bus? Did he forget what he was doing? Maybe his computer accidently deleted the last 3 chapters of the book...it happens.
I loved this book. A great continuation of the first in the series. I cant wait for book 3!
I had to force myself to finish this book. So predictable....and lets face it, disappointing. Peter Clines can offer much more. A quick buck appears to be his only motivation with this lackluster series. This is not original, or entertaining, but it is formulaic. I simply cannot identify with any of the 'Heroes'. Sorry...no cigar.

Ex-Patriots continues the story of the survivors from the mount. Written in the same style as the first book in the series, book 2 adds some additional characters and villains as well. The book offers a good amount of action without any character development, essentially when you want to be a mindless reader reading about mindless zombies this is your book.
The multiple narrators made this a great audio book!

The Ex-Heroes series continues with the introduction of a new location with its own set of new characters, and the author clearly favors some old and new characters to others. It feels crowded, and not everybody gets the attention they seem to deserve.
It is still a worthy addition to the series, and a way forward.
