This is easily a top 10 book. Very interesting concept and well defined characters. You are suddenly immersed into a world that is teaming with Super Hero's and Zombies.
The flow of the story and the character development. At times you don't know which side to cheer for.
They really enhance the experience. The good characters are really good and the bad characters are really bad, but you can relate to all of them.
I like Jack Reacher style characters regardless of setting. Put them in outer space, in modern America, in a military setting, on an alien planet... no worries. Book has non moralistic vigilante-justice? Sign me up! (oh, I read urban fantasy, soft and hard sci-fi, trashy vampire and zombie novels too)
It is even better than Ex-Heroes (the first book in the series). It is suspenseful, and there is a twist (or maybe even two twists) that I did not expect.
It is a rather mature zombie book (i.e. there is more to the story than just zombies eating everyone) and, while some readers have complained about the swearing, I didn't find it excessive at all. There are a couple characters who swear, but they don't show up much.
The heroes just feel like regular people, who have the goal of trying their best to save the remaining people from zombies. We don't really bat an eye at their powers because the powers are seamlessly woven into the story. And the heroes are distinct and we are made to care about them as individuals, not just in how they can save the day.
I think Clines is becoming a better writer the more he writes. I look forward to the next book in the series because I can't wait to see what the heroes do next, and if they can, indeed, save what is left of the world. There is not a cliff-hanger so you don't *have* to go out and buy the next book immediately, but I did anyway.
The narration is very good, there is some swearing but no real gore or graphic content.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
totally, I thought it was even better than book 1...completely interesting, and entertaining....
I love The Mighty Dragon...and Zap...but there all great...Super heroes fighting the Zombocolypse.....lol
I liked when they drugged Zap and he wakes up in the reactor and tries to escape...and also when Stealth is locked up and they think she has escaped and she kicks there butts....lol
I could have...it was really good!!!
I hope #3 comes out soon, this is a completely entertaining series...different and original...I loved the narration and I highly recommend!
This was a great listen. The Narraters were enteraining and the story was really interesting. I like the comination of Super Hero's and Zombies. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
This is a very unique story, it had super heros and it had zombies, but it is unlike any Zombie or Super Hero book I have ever read. The super villan is great too.
They add great personality to the characters.
I am brutally honest. Popular, love everything they read, reviewers are scared to go neg. and risk their ranking. It's your money!!!
PEOPLE BELIEVE A LOT OF THINGS WHEN THINGS GO BAD.
I have to admit a weakness of mine. I have trouble controlling myself during a book sale. I love Clines' books, 14 and The Junkie Quantriun and will be getting The Fold. I was not a huge fan of the first book, thought it was so-so. I have never been a Super Hero fan, but I am a huge Zombie fan. The only super hero I ever cared about was Batman, cause he used his brains and invented gadgets. The soap opera that plays out between the super heroes and the regular people may be indicative of what would really happen, but I don't really care. I could not get it into my head to care about any of these characters. This whole book is cartoonish and would seem to appeal to fans of DragonBallz or Pokeman.
I also get annoyed at Zombie books that pretend to be different. Several of them like to invent different names for Zombies, as if they have to pay a royalty to Romero every time they use the name Zombies. The reader is never going to think EX or Stalkers or what ever other cute name a writer gives them to try and make them his own. We are always going to think Zombie, so use the term.
The narrators are okay. One of them does make mature females sound like anime characters, HEHE. The main narrator has one of those movie trailer voices, which is cool at first, but over time grows just as monotone as a quiet voice.
If you were a big fan of book one, ignore me, you should love this. If you are not a fan of book one or not a fan of comic books, no matter what the sale price, stay away.
I loved this book. A great continuation of the first in the series. I cant wait for book 3!
Sleeplady: lover of dogs, zombies and superheroes.
How could I not love a book that combines Superheroes and Zombies?!! This book has strong characters, an interesting plot and is well written. The narrator has a pleasant voice and delivery. I very worthwhile read. **Note**This book is a sequel to Ex-Heros and I think if you haven't read/listened to that first you may not get the full effect of the book.
Nice assortment of diverse characters.
None that I can think of.
I like the multiple voices. Each narrator does a great job.
Very entertaining. I plan to read more of this series in the future.
Spends less time establishing the world and allows you to jump right in, like any good comic book.
The finale of this one isn't as action packed as the first, but the new characters are worth it. looking forward to picking up part 3.
