"Hart's Best So Far"
I had begun to think Broken was the high point of Hart's career--not that I haven't enjoyed her other titles, because I really, really have--but Broken was so the right mix of Hart's strengths. Until now. Collide is the book I've been hoping she'd write since I first discovered her. It's unabashedly romantic. Its main character is actually fully supported by her friends and family, not bogged down and fighting them, which is a very welcome change. It's fresh yet complex, just the way I like a good Megan Hart book to be. And it's also, quite possibly, the most light-hearted of her books that I've read so far, though that's not to say that it's facile, or even light-hearted compared to other authors in this genre. I really loved it.
"WOW..... JUST WOW"
Loved it, didn't want it to end and wanted to listen to it all over again. It had you guessing right until the end. One of her best.
Download it now - you won't be disappointed.
"I love Megan Heart Books"
Overall, I love Megan Hart books, but this one was lacking. I was so excited to see that Audible had a new release and grabbed it as soon as my monthly credits came. I had a really hard time getting into the story and it seemed to drag until they came to the first instance of a fugue (I considered just starting another book). From there, it was the same series of events over and over again. I also found the last 1/3 of the book predictable. One of the great thins about Megan's books is that she weaves her characters throughout all of her books, and this one was missing that little nuance.
I have also listened to other stories narrated by Lily Bask, and although she is a great narrator, her voice lends itself to portraying an older female (40-50's) and not a female in her early 30's. It made it harder to get into the story since I was imagining these things happening to someone just younger than my mother.
If you are a Megan Hart fan already, you will appreciate her writing and her truly naughty sex scenes. If this is your first time, I would suggest listening to "Broken" or "Dirty" before getting this one...
"Romance and Sci-Fy at it's best"
I could and will listen to this one again. Johnny and Emmaline's love story was told in such a unique way. The use of neurological damage is used to tell this story. Their love went across time and space to bring them together. The reader is not given an explanation for every point in this story, but its understood somethings had to be for love to rein.
Johnny turned out to be a richly developed character. The more I got to know him the more I loved this character. He became so patient and adorable. I also loved Emmaline's mother. We witness her growth through this story as well.
Lily Bask helped you feel the changes that Emmaline goes through during her changes. Excellent! I was on edge.
My favorite moment was when Emmaline takes cookies to Johnny and he is rude and resistant, yet you felt his interest. The way he walks close to her even while ignoring her was teasing and hot.
"Ripoff of another story, and pooly ripped at that"
Megan Hart is usually quite good. This novel falls short on every major dimension. The main character is monotonous. She foreshadows the story line to the point where you say 'really she is going there.' Then when she actually get there to the point, she mentions the very book that she ripped off! I could not believe it. Ripping of f the story and citing it -- that's a first.
Don't bother to listen to this book, not even if you are trapped in a airport, snowed-in with TV's boken and this is the only novel left on the shelves.
"Couldn't finish it"
It was a fascinating premise, and I think it was executed well. Not sure why I couldn't finish it.
"Worth a listen"
Interesting plot requires suspension of belief but characters engaging. Narrator's elder female voice difficult to get past. Try to get on sale. Much better than Tempted or Naked.
"Could not finish it."
It may have gotten better but after 4 hours I could not listen to anymore. I downloaded this basted on the ratings and wish I had not.
"excellent...with her the whole time. love is great"
didn't read print version
so different from anything listened to or read. Didn't know where Megan Hart was going but wanted to stay with her til the end.
Her characterizations and the pace and just loved her accent.
Love is timeless.
Will probably listen to this book again and again.
