I had both and I like the narators voices. I makes it enjoyable hearing the voice of Addicus. he comes up with some good voices.
Addicus the Irish wolfhound
when Addicus gets the girl/poodle
I've already listened to it twice.
I love Oberon's nonfat 5 cheese bacon latte monologue
He is a fantasic narrator. Individual voices, accuate accents, nuf said.
Thor is a giant asshat and deserves to die!
The Iron Druid series is one of the best urban fantasies ever. Kevin Hearne is second only to Jim Butcher.
I love to read and since 2011 I have been mostly listening to audiobooks because oftentimes there is nothing like a good narrator.
It easily in the top 3. I would have put it at 1st but the 1st two books in the Iron Druid Chronicles were also superb. If Kevin Hearne can keep up this caliber book then the Iron Druid will surpass all of the greats, easily. In all honesty, because only gushing all over a book is almost as useless as saying nothing at all, I do have one bad thing to say about the storyline. Atticus can make snap decisions and sometimes they do seem hasty and rash, but more often then not they pan out to be the right thing. Having said that, and trying to word this carefully so as not to reveal any spoilers, I have an issue with one of his decisions. Now, Atticus decided to go after Thor and as the story develops it becomes clearer as to why Thor should be cranked in the side of the head with a big stick, but it seems to me that he made the decision rather, well, quickly. I don't know how to explain it better without giving away the storyline so I will have to leave it at that, but it was surprising to me that Atticus would decide to do something as huge as going after Thor without more.....what's the word, convincing? I don't know. When you read the book you'll understand what I mean. This is by no means reason enough for me to suggest skipping this book, not by a long shot.
Leif Helgarson, his Vampire Attorney. We learn more about him and he's not so much an enigma by the end of the story. I am also liking the werewolf alpha more and more but Leif is growing into more of a well rounded character. He is by no means someone you'd want to be best friends with, at least not yet, but he is interesting.
The character interaction. I've never heard another narrator do it as well as he. Luke Daniels does Oberon to perfection I think. I have also developed more of a mental picture of Atticus because he puts the right amount of feeling and expression into the reading, so much that he makes you believe he really is Atticus O'Sullivan. I read the first book Hounded before getting the audiobook and at first, when I started listening to it and to Luke Daniels reading it, something felt odd. Atticus seemed, a stranger almost. I can't really explain it, but it was almost as if it was a different Atticus character. Not quite Bizzaro World but you get the idea. Maybe 5 minutes later, Atticus felt.....well, like Atticus. Mr Daniels forces you to believe he is the real Atticus. I hope that makes sense as it is not very easy to explain. All that said, not just the series but the narrator in my book are among the best. Once..sure, could be luck. Twice, you have to think. By now I'd say their kudos are well earned!
Yes. That 's an easy one. YES.
Yes. Thank you Mr Hearne and Mr Daniels, as well as everyone involved in bringing this book to my home. I am much the richer for it.
I have enjoyed this series so much. I just can't quit listening! I think my favorite character is Oberon, the dog. Love the stories. Love the sense of humor. Great series. Hope the author continues to write more.
Say something about yourself!
Somewhat different from what I usually read. I'm a espionage/thriller reader -- Baldacci, Child, DeSilva and Flynn, et al. I enjoyed the relief, especially the comic relief. The three books in the series were all good. They should be read in order for more continunity.
Oberon, the Irish Wolfhound. Great voice. The vampires, the witches, the werewolfs, the gods, Jesus, the Virgin Mary and a host of characters that are believable and just plain fun. Oh, and don't forget the giant squirrel and all the flying creatures.
The narrator was fantastic. 5 stars. All his voices were enjoyable and memorable, especially Oberon
Love the series. All were good, narration great. I recommend it heartily.
What can I say the second is a great follow up to the first. I listened until it was all done, couldn't put it down! Entertaining just doesn't describe what I want to say.
This was another great story and I hate that I am done with the series, I wish there were more. The only regret I have about this story is not enough Oberron... I really got to love that Irish Wolfhound, maybe in the next one. I will be anxiously awaiting the next story in the chronicle. I sure hope there is one!
Any time, actually the new book, Tricked, is supposed to be release april 24 this year.He is witty, funny, a bit matcho and warm at heart. The characters are deep and juicy, the plot surprising and the ideas outrageous.
Getting into my car, sipping a bit of hot tea and turning on the radio anticipating Luke Daniel's voice (the narrator).
Hard to say, the frost giants getting all excited about the goddess Freya or the main characters sitting at a fire trying to male-bond with stories why they hate the god Thor.
Absolutely not. This is like a fine wine that you want to spread out lovingly over some period of time.
Cant wait for Tricked.Oh yeah, the comments of Oberon, the dog, are just outrageous.
close to the top.can't wait for the next one.book won't be out till april, wth??
I enjoy this time and consider it well spent exercising my imagination. I now have these other worlds to tell you about. I have value.
The story starts to come together some and it leaves you wanting book 4. But after the first 2 books, I couldnt help myself. It continues true to form . I laughed alot . I also felt like I was on the edge of my seat at some points . I have to say that this whole series has been worthwhile entertainment. Just read the book, read all three. I really enjoyed this other world I escaped to. Read my other reviews, I am now a fan of both the author and the narrator. You will become one too.
