I thought this was a good story and a light read even though there was some violence in it. The reader did a good job and it was fun.
The story is enjoyable, not great but enjoyable, but omg the reader just ruins it. she sounds stuffed up, and gasps for breath at every sentence. It just ruins the book. Sad that I bought the first three in the series before I listened. Won't be buying the rest until they change reader
Perhaps people who like this author more than I did.
It was very slow and boring
I really did not like this performance. It only added more disappointment to the book.
I think this book is just silly. There is no depth. I would like to see some suspense in it.
I bought the book because I saw a review by some celebrities on TV say it was so good. I was so disappointed that it was slow, shallow, and dumb story.
Obviously not the greatest book I have ever "read", but definitely enjoyable. Entertaining story. I'm one who has to "read" a book before i can see the movie, if there is one, and so that was behind my decision to buy. I will likely get the next in the series, after I tackle a few longer choices.
It's a great story quirky and fun.
I don't know about the edge of my seat, you could kind of guess the plot, but it's a good ride.
I've never heard C.J.'s other performances, but I did enjoy her in this.
years ago I borrowed the first five book recordings from my library, Debi Mazar was the reader and was great. The east cost accent made the story seam real. Just like the movie, they needed characters that looked and sounded like East Cost Italians to make it work. I was so excited that I didn't realize that the reader was different.
Cute read! Made me want to go ahead and listen to the rest of the series.
I LOVE Stephanie Plum. I have read, and loved, the entire series. I took advantage of the $4.95 offer for this audiobook but, my word, SO NOT worth it! Not even worth a measly $4.95! If you want to start the Stephanie Plum series, I would recommend doing so by reading the first several books. I am not a big fan of Lorelei King as a reader, either (the narrator for books 6 through 18), but she is at least bearable. If you want a review of the actual plotline, there are other reviews that cover that. My review is strictly for the audio performance. And here is why it is a huge shame that CJ Critt was commissioned to narrate the first books in the series:
1. CJ Critt's voice is too old. I would put her "voice age" at around 50. Stephanie is 30 years old in this book.
2. CJ Critt's voice is a smoker's voice...very raspy, as though she has emphysema. Stephanie is not a smoker.
3. CJ Critt takes a DEEP breath before every sentence. It literally makes *me* feel asthmatic listening to it.
4. CJ Critt takes a 2-second too long pause between sentences. The overall effect is unsettling.
I know that the focus of this review is very narrator-centric but I just wanted to warn you to maybe reconsider this purchase. Listening to One for the Money (and I eventually gave up listening) was a very unpleasant experience.
Really good, I'm fairly easy to please though
