I enjoyed the author's straight forward style and honesty. I appreciated that he shared some of his failures and mistakes as well as his successes.
The author's narration I found a bit too laid back, and his view a bit Utopian, but that mindset was a critical part of his success.
A short easy read that is well worth it. You will definitely pick up some good stuff.
passionate reader & writer
Sivers reminds you that even very successful business people make big mistakes and inspires you to go easy yourself. A failure is not a failure. It's a discovery of yet another way things don't work.
I've always thought about business in a different way than most. It has also been hard to be told I'm doing things wrong, not normal, and against the ways of the wise. Then, by way of a friend, along came Derek Sivers and his alternate ways of building & running a business. This guy has done the things I do, thinks the way I do and was successful at it all the while at odds with mainstream ways of business practices. Perhaps I will be alright after all, who knew?! Thank you Derek! Thank you very much!!
Somehow this audiobook came into my life at exactly the right moment. Simple focused lessons for everyone. Derek is a great storyteller and sounds like one of the most interesting man in the world.
This book is for the entrepreneur who is starting a business and wants to build a company that serves her clients to the fullest and grows exponentially.
Building a business is about having the freedom to live a life that you design, and this book tells Derek's story about how he did it, and how you can do it to.
It's a great short listen for everyone looking to succeed in life.
So many brilliant pieces of advice per page. I feel outraged that Derek got separated from his baby business for which he had worked so hard, by people he had helped so much. But that's real life for you, and people are usually cruel. What is out of this world is that Derek simply donated 22 million. For me Derek Sivers ia a mad genius.
This book is a good autobiography. Or case study. But it's not a book on business advice as the situations are unique and specific to this author. It's difficult to generalise the learnings to all personality types. His narration is excellent.
