The Countess has some likeable characters, and an enjoyable plot. However, this read is sadly lacking in historical context. The dialog was too modern to be believable. Situations were plausible, but not carried out well. However, it did make for a low key light listen.
I would ask for more of a sense of suspsense. I found myself looking forward to the story being over so I could go on to something else.
It was as expected and ordinary as the rest of the book.
She did a good job of creating the personalities of each of the characters.
There are few things in life better than losing yourself completely in a really exceptional story.
Yikes, this was awful. To be completely fair, I'll admit I only gave this turkey one hour's listen, but it was all I could stand. It was like nails on a chalkboard...the story AND the narration. I just couldn't take it anymore. Life's too short to be wasted on fodder like this!
Really not believable.
She certainly CAN NOT do other people's voices. She screeches. Where did they find this person?????? Hope she did not quit her day time job.
It was so absurd, it was funny.
the story is poorly constructed; the narrator's voice immature and unable to lift the story.
This was the first Audible book I have not enjoyed. I found the story ridiculous with plot holes large enough to drive a horse and cart through. I also did not enjoy the narrator but this may have been due to the idiocy of the plot.
What could have been amazing story, was terrible to listen to. The narrator was so dramatic with the heroine's voice I thought she was joking!!! At her first intimate encounter with the guy, he surprises the lady with an intimate caress somewhere and she exclaims "oh Dicky!!" to which he responds in a wanna be sexy (cringe) voice "please call me richard" to which she again exclaims " Oh Richard!!!" You have to be kidding! LOL! The story was trying too hard and the dialog was juvenile which was supported by the over dramatic narration. I could not continue!
Audio-fiction ADDICT !
This was my first book by this author . I liked the story very much . But the narrator ruined it for me ! I guess I should have read the book in kindle instead !
I guess this was supposed to funny....I personally didn't find it to be so. The narration is fine, it's the story that bites. Carting a corpse around (and frequently forgetting about him) isn't funny. It's gross. Making out on top of a corpse isn't funny, it's morbid and unbelievably stupid. Don't waste your time with this one.
