It stops being funny after the first verse. This is shameful garbage which Audible should refuse to feature on their site. Unlike the equally profane Sh*t My Dad Says, this story has no heart. In the interview at the start, Jackson claims he would often tell his own children to go the f to sleep. That just screams awesome dad, then again what can we expect from a former crack dealer? If any parent is telling their kid to go the f to sleep, they need to work on their parenting skills. I understand that this is a joke, but it isn't funny or clever, it just demonstrates how unsophisticated and base American society has become. My advice to potential readers, do not waste even six minutes listening to this stupidity. Go the f to sleep needs to go the f away.
I am a blessed man!
Of course I've felt all the sentiments expressed in this poem. Every parent has. It's just a lazy work, using f--ck to be funny.
Warning that it's not a kids book! Had read a review on another children's book that mentioned this as funny. Should have known from the title but ... not. Definitely needs a language warning. Don't want this in my library.
I doubt it. I don't know why he did this one. It was pointless.
He was OK, but the whole effort was pointless.
The book itself.
More warning to be prepared for something Tarantino style telling fashion. Or to read the review before buying.
I don't consider this a genre. It's a spoof and should have been advertised as such. It was funny but I do not talk to my kids like this.
I liked Samuel L. Jackson. It was purely his style and he has a wonderful voice. He could do a better story with his voice. I just didn't like this story. As a spoof, it works but not as anything else.
Disturbance. We have all thought this way to our child but i have never talked to a small child like this and to hear a small child's story read like this...well, I deleted the book.
I wouldn't rule any of them out just because of this very short book.
I was expecting something clever and was extremely disappointed. Samuel Jackson did a great job but there were just way too many F bombs. Hopefully there aren't many parents that impatient with their child to bombard them with the F-word
It could have been written by a tired high school babysitter. I guess what can you expect out of a 6 minute dissertation by Samuel L Jackson, who sounded like HE was ready to fall asleep reading it!! Don't waste your time or money.
Not sure what I expected, but the book was very offensive. I should have known better.
Again, I should have known better. I thought it would be a spoof, not that raw.
Its not rocket science.. just an okay book. I am a mother of a 10 month old so i can somewhat relate but it wasn't amusing to me.
This poem taps into angst that every parent has experienced and can relate to. Great subject with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, for me the non-stop F-bombs eventually became over the top and a distraction. This is a very short listen, but I was glad when it was over.
