A good story of a woman's rise from the ashes! The story did start out slow and Meredith was hard to feel pity for as such an elitist in her former life with Freddy. By the end you find yourself rooting for her, a little late though. I would have liked to see a bit less victim and more courage. The narration was good but I did keep picking up a Canadian or Minnesota accent that didn't fit in? Still a feel good story.
I haven't read a book by Elin Hilderbrand in a few years and I forgot how much I enjoy her. This book was a nice, easy listen and kept me interested until the very end. The two narrators for Connie and Meredith's characters did a great job bringing them to life.
I got into listening to audio books while traveling and now have found them a source of comfort day & night! Robyn Carr is my Fav
Such a lovely and heartwarming story that has all the adjectives listed above. Emotions run deep as a REAL friend emerges during a true time of need. Many great friendships rekindled and strong new ones made.
Oh yes!! An easy enjoyable read with mystery, love, challenged relationships, danger and more; one of her best books.
The entire story line and how it was presented made me want to do a complete read!
It was excellent!! Made me fall into the book and again feel a part of it!
Intriguing a must see!!
Elin Hilderbrand never disappoints me in any of her books. This has an intriguing mystery with Meredith and her husband a billionaire who finds himself in jail for 150 years. What happens to Meredith and her two boys? Meredith asks her a strangled but long time friend Connie if she can spend the summer with her on Nantucket. She accepts but what did Connie open herself up to; is it safe to have Meredith with her under the fact Meredith is under scrutiny of stealing also?
This is a great summer read filled with adventure, a broken relationships, lost husband and a strangled daughter along with new love. What happens when Meredith sees her long ago love Toby?
I loved this book; I could have read all night through. Easy read!!!
I have read many of her books...Some I really like, some are just ok...this one was just so, so.
Just did not care for the story...kind of boring...
I had to stop listening! I could NOT listen to the narrators any more! I may buy the book to see what happens...
Yes, with different narrators.
Too slow. Did not fit the characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this novel. It is a story about all the different types of love you have in your life (romantic, friendship, family) and all the ups and downs that come with it. To me, it really delved deep into the characters’ emotions. And, I thought the ending was exactly what it should be—happy without being terribly unrealistic. If you’re looking for something a little bit more meaningful than your average romance novel, this may be the audiobook you’re looking for.
The narration wasn’t the best I’ve ever heard, but I thought it was still pretty good.
I was a Reading Specialist by trade , but mostly I'm a wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and servant to four cats.
The readers were excellent.
Meredith....watching her character grow over the sequence of events and her ability to accept what life threw at her with grace.
To be honest, I don't know.
Bring a hankie!
This book was my first audible listen and I really enjoyed it. I am a fan of Elin Hilderbrand and this book was not disappointing in the least. Taken out of recent headlines, the story presents from the point of view, not of the villian, but of Meredith, the spouse, and her childhood friend, now estranged, whom she calls on for help. This friend, Connie, is battling her own demons of grief and estrangement. The story switches back and forth between the two main characters. My only (small) disappointment was that it was occasionally difficult to differentiate which character was speaking becuase the narrators sounded very similar. Otherwise, this was a very good book.
