This is one that frustrates me that I spent money on it! Very slow, no depth at all...boring. Did not care for story or narrator. Try something else....trust me.
I love Mary Kay Andrews Hissy Fit, so someone told me about Summer Rental so this was my first audiobook. I really enjoyed it.
Because I've enjoyed other books by Ms. Andrews, I anticipating enjoying this as well. It was a waste of time. The characters had no depth; in fact I could hardly tell them apart. The story was predictable. The narrator did her best to fake a Southern accent but failed miserably. Most of the book was taken up by every character repeating the major plot points periodically. I couldn't believe anything about this book including the fact that I actually listened to it all the way through. I'm sorry to be so negative, but this is my honest opinion.
Let's hope it is an aberation and Ms. Andrews' next is up to her usual standard.
I was not ready for it to end. Great story. Worth every penny. Will keep in library and listen to again. Down loaded for my daughter. Funny, smart, so like real girlfriends. Can't say enough. I love this story.
When you read a book about Southerners you do not have to use that fake, annoying, offensive accent. Pretty much, only someone from the South sounds "Southern". Your voice is distracting from the story and VERY annoying to those of us from the South. Cannot listen to another book read by this person.
The story is just what you expect. The characters are very likable and relatable. I'm just weary from the same old recipe for a story. Looking for something new and refreshing in a storyline with out it getting too dark or going the other way and becoming too sappy. It may be several months before another one of Mary Kay's books.
Enjoyed every minute! Kept you on your toes at the end. Great book to listen to while doing other things. You can pick up right where you left off and your are never bored of the twists and turns.
