I have listened to this book over and over again and am amazed each time by the level of deceit this man was able to get away with. This is one of my favorite listens and I highly recommend it!
I had actually read this book quite awhile before buying the audio book and, even though I knew the story, I really enjoyed it. Narration was also good. This story is so crazy! I don't know how this guy pulled it all off.
The story follows a man who cons hundreds of persons in the same way. The book is well researched, but that becomes its greatest problem: the author did not want to discard any of the hundreds of incidents that he uncovered, so the reader is left with 10+ hours of variations on the same theme.
Well researched, well written and well presented. Chronology was organized and provided pertinent information without getting lost in irrelevant babel. Sparked my interest enough that I was motivated to do a bit of research on my own.
Overall this was a good listen. It did seem to drag on though and I had to force myself to finish it. I think it could have been much shorter and should be. The narrator was good and easy to listen to.
I could hardly stop listening to this one. It's the best book I've received from Audible so far. Here is something to think about: This guy did whatever he could to become a Rockefeller. But on Netflix, there is a documentary about an actual Rockefeller who went to New Guinea and never returned; at the end of the documentary, they show a video and it appears the guy did everything he could to stop becoming a Rockefeller.
This was a fascinating story! There was Never a dull moment! The narrator was great too! I Totally recommend this book!
Yes, because I never could guess what was going to happen next. It was the creepiest book I have listened to yet and I loved absolutely every minute.
The way it made me realize how little we actually know about so many people in our lives. Anyone could be falsifying major details about their lives and who would know the difference? This man was so brazen that no one dared confront him. It's not the guy sneaking in the back, taking a nose bleed seat but the one marching straight through the front door and demanding you roll out the red carpet.
His performance was entertaining and his sniveling prep school accent was spot on.
Yes, I was enthralled from the very first moments.
Absolutely. It is an amazing story and really well read.
Yes, I listened whenever I could
I am generally not a fan of non-fiction but this book read like a novel. The story unfolded with lots of dialogue. There was suspense, interesting characters and yet it left me with questions. I would love a sequel to find out what happened to him
