I am really enjoying Kevin Hearne's books and the narration by Luke Daniels. I have listened to each book twice so far. Still get a chuckle in parts, still engrossed in the story.
I laughed out-loud and with some embarrassment. I was reluctant to like this series as I am a devout Jim Butcher- Harry Dresdan fan. Kevin Hearne with the help of Luke Daniels have caused me to unfaithfully dream of Atticus O'Sullivan -the Red Headed Druid as my magical savior, should I be set upon by the demons of hell, witches, or a nosey neighbor. The character is funny and cleverly written. Lots of myths and fairy lore explained through out much like Butcher's Dresdan, but with a unique celtic theme, that has caused me on more than one occasion to stop listening and consult the internet on my phone for more information. Like Moore his repeated pokes at modern day vernacular have been the cause of my irregular outbursts of laughter in public places. FUN series, I hope for more from this author past the third book.
All three of the books in this series are some of the best books I've listened to in a long time. Great story and great narration. I couldn't put any of these books down for long. After the first book, I was hexed for the rest.
yes, the whole story draws you in.I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next
the continuation from last book
Absolutely, I think this is one of the best stories I have read. If you are looking for incredibly deep and twisting plots, this isn't the story for you, but if you like good characters, witty dialogue, and sticking it to the man, this is your story.
fun, fast, weird
The story is fast, there is always something going on, always some suspense. The humor in the book can make you laugh out loud and therefore I recommend not listening to this audiobook in public or with company, to avoid strange looks and comments. ;-) The narration is great really adds to the story and characters.
The talks with his companion are always fun and some of the thoughts the main character has are just to strange and funny.
It definately made me laugh!!
Can't wait for the fourth part of the series.
It is up to you to use your powers for good!
This story continues to pull me in with its own planetary gravity. Luke Daniels pumps pure life into this book and the entire series! Kevin Hearne tells a fabulous tale, but Luke Daniels is it's heartbeat. I've listened to it twice (the entire series so far) and it doesn't disappoint nor become stagnant. Kevin Hearne has inspired me to brush up on my Norse mythology. You wont be disappointed - even if you've never had the fish and chips at Rula Bula :)
I enjoy this time and consider it well spent exercising my imagination. I now have these other worlds to tell you about. I have value.
It is a good continuation of the story which began in the first book . The story is very well planned and you can tell someone did his homework before writing this. The narrator does an excellent job keeping the characters voices correct. I love the dog,Oberon. He is so funny and his personality is very much like a real Irish wolfhound. I know because there are two in my family. If you read the first book you definately dont need me to convince you to read this one. If not, let me say its better to read them in order but the author can get you up to speed if you just want to start here. Read it. Love it and laugh at it. Dont miss this one.
I like both versions of this book as the language is clever and the narrator actually seems to enjoy reading the story.
I can't go past Oberon wanting a treat for using fetishism in a sentence, although the RPGs were also memorable
Luke brings the characters to life
Yes, especially towards the end
Yes I would. Its a good story and very entertaining with action and sometimes funny.
All of it.
Luke Daniels's performance is awesome. Couldn't have picked a better narrator for this story.
Nothing, he is great.
