I have been listening for 18 years. This is the first time I have felt a need to write a review.
This was just terrible. Can't say any more. I endured the whole 24 hours, could not wait for it to be over. It is too bad, as I usually enjoy his work.
NOT a Chance
any are good - too bad he is associated with such a bad author.
Disgust for the author
This may have been a decent story - but the author is addicted to lists - he can't go more that a few minutes with one showing up. On top of that the book goes porographic near the end of the first section - homosexual pediphilia. Not what I paid for!!!!
57 Yrs Young, have been reading since age 5. Avg 3-5 books per week. Avid reader/listener, enjoy ALL genres & many writing styles.
For 2-1/2 hours I listened to discriptions of furniture, scenery, etc. that droned on and on.
Most disappointing was that after 2-1/2 hours I didn't know WHERE the story was going, on if it WAS going anywhere.
His performance was alright, but the combination of him and NO story was too much.
Utter disappointment - I was glad I didn't pay full price for this book. After the first hour I kept telling myself, if I just listened a little longer it would get better. After 2-1/2 hours it didn't get better. Boooooo
the fascination of the main character.
the freak. lol
i thought i had read this book in the 80s and enjoyed it.
I can't believe I wasted my credit on this! I have spent a week trying to get intrested in this and I give up. I made it to chapter 6, was so bored I wanted to stab myself in the eye with a pencil. I hated the narrator, I hated the characters, I mean for the love of all that is holy we are 6 chapters into this and no one has died yet, except maybe the readers of bordem. I really had no idea from the description that this was set in the 70's, I've lived through the 70's it wasn't that great why in heavens name would I want to read about it. Unless you are suffering from insomnia I wouldn't recommend that you purchase this snoozer.
I suppose this book was written when books were written slowly, around 1700 or so. I listen to it because I have paid for it, and knit and think instead.
Suspense, Where Art Thou?!
