The main characters are cute together , I loved their playfulness. I wished there had been more of that between Marcus and Honoria (sp) before the main "conflict". It wasn't a great story line but the musical plot was different and again, cute. The narrator did a great job with the female voices, but her Marcus voice wasn't great.
Attorney - love to listen to audio books
Such a sweet and entertaining book. Marcus is a great hero - not a bad bone in his body. "Bug" (her real name is Honoria) is a great heroine. She is so normal and down to earth. They deserve to be happy. The story line includes an annual musicale where the performers, all from the same family, are all horrible but their proud relatives don't seem to notice. This has been going on for 18 years and now Bug is one of the performers on her violin, and she is just as bad as all the others. Marcus, who has sworn to Bug's brother that he will look after her endures the performances. He does not have a family of her own and Bug's family has been his surrogate family since he was a young boy at school. There is not a great deal of action, but the story is entertaining and the dialog is good. I truly enjoyed listening to this book. The reader is very good - excellent expression and she does not get in the way of the story.
A very sweet read. Recommend for fans of historical romance. Another worthwhile installment from Julia Quinn. Made me want to read all the books in the series.
RAGs to Riches
I wanted to love thia book but much of the time i was waitkng for it to get to the end. The narration was perfect, the story was ok, but Im hesitant to buy another of these books unless on sale.
So glad I bought this book when it was on sale for $4.95 and didn't waste one of my credits. Was one of the worse books I've listened to on audiobook, had a hard time getting to the end.
Just Like Heaven was a breath of fresh air to me. After reading the same dreary story lines again and again, this one finally made me smile! The characters were endearing, the story enchanting and Julia Quinn had me wrapped around this quaint little family from the get go. Give Just Like Heaven a read if you want to be sucked into a wonderful little story!!
This was a sweet regency romance. I loved the interactions between Honoria and Marcus, and how others perceived them. It was a fun adventure, seeing them fall for each other and how they dealt with it. Poor girls in that quartet though! I enjoyed the final chapters, the action was orchestrated (yep, pun intended) just right to tie up all the major threads. I found it refreshing too, since physical romance was saved for the end, as a culmination...
The only part that got to me was the too-good description of the infected wound, which I unfortunately read during dinner and I completely lost my appetite. Awful. But well written. I didn't want to put it down the whole time, made difficult by pesky things like my job. =P
I think Lady Danbury was my favorite character. Loved her attitude, and how she mischievously helped things along. A great light read.
Narration was pretty good too, but not my favorite. Mainly because, as much as I like Landor and have listened to her read many novels, she has only one real voice for men, and sometimes in order to differentiate her females some of them sound too airy and childish. But in general, her timing, flow, emotion, etc are well done.
