The story was about as dry as an old saltine cracker. It went around and around in circles getting nowhere. By half way through the story I finally gave up. Poorly written, poorly read. Too bad, the concept was a good one.
Delivery could have been done with more verbal alacrity and interest, but there was only so much they could do with a poorly written book,
Boredom. A "Come ON, get ON with it will you?" "Where's this story going?"
This book will scare the HELL out of you . I am not one that scares easy, but this will do it.
The world we live in today, Bio-hazard is a real threat. This book will make you think about how bad this could be
First heard this book on cassette while driving down to Florida from New York. It was So Exciting, my brother and I, when we stopped for meals, brought the food into the car so we could quickly return to "The Hot Zone." Two years later, I bought the soft-cover book, which I read a few times, and finally I have this phenomenal book on my "Audible" app on my iPad. After many readings and even more listenings, I cannot rate Richard Preston's writing any higher!
Might be too graphic for some as it is very desciptive in describing death from gruesome deseases. But i felt it was all needed to convey how serious this is. I absolutely loved this book. From start to finish i loved the ride!! It immerses you completely in it.
This is an interesting subject and book. I thought it we a little too repetitive at times. The treatment of the monkeys is very hard to listen too. It is terrible what we do to them. This was news to me. There has robe a better way to benefit science.
The audio version was good for me because it helped me complete the book in a timely manner without having to keep track of the print version. After using the audio version, I purchased the written!
It was real-world people and situations...not an embellishment of the truth.
The discovery of the virus in the caves in Africa.
If I could have, I would have...!
Loved the story line and really got my interest peaked in the study of Virology!
I enjoyed the story but there is a lot of unimportant detail included. it has absolutely no relevance to the story and, in my opinion, it doesn't fit into the narration.
After a few parts where I thought it would bring some explanation (that would later turn out to be important), I learnt to ignore it and skipped ahead.
