"Less than thrilled"
I think Tina Fey is often very funny, but I couldn't get on with this. I found her voice annoying and while I am glad she admired her father, I didn't need to hear quite so much about him. I gave up listening to this halfway and haven't gone back.
"It's fast; it's funny, it's Tina Fey"
This is a quick and fun listen. Tina Fey reads her own book excellently; no problem with capturing the authorial voice! She knows how to find the funny and comes across as someone you really want to get to know.
A strong, funny, intelligent woman. Awesome.
"Extremely funny and wholeheartedly recommended"
This audio book is brilliant, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. It is consistently funny and Tina Fey, as you might expect, does a great job of narrating.
I also really appreciated that bits were altered from the print edition to work in audio form, as well as the inclusion of one of her Saturday Night Live Sarah Palin skits and other nice touches. Or as another reviewer says rather more succinctly, it's an audiobook that knows it's an audiobook.
But Audible.co.uk: where's the PDF to which she refers several times? I can't see it available to download on your site (possibly because I'm being an idiot). I would really like to see a copy!
"Like chatting to Tiny Fey for a few hours"
Not much of a structure to it, which was fine by me - it was like you've met Tina Fey at a party and asked her a few questions. I really enjoyed listening to her just talk!
"not deep but entertaining"
a mindless easy listen while running. kind of like chatting to a friend. I laughed out loud a few times. She reads it well.
"so much fun! brill read! and lots of lol moments!"
so so much fun! brilliant read! and lots of lol moments! hope Tina writes more!
Honest and hilarious! Well read and thoroughly enjoyable, I am now a fan! I would recommend!
"For lovers of SNL and 30Rock"
One of the best.
So many great anecdotes. She delivers some fab stories relating back to her first job, improv workshops, snl, Sarah Palin, Lorne Michaels, Alec Baldwin, Amy poehler and others. If you are already a fan of hers, this will go down a treat...
Tina is funny, warm, sarcastic, clever and comfortably plays with the format of the audiobook
Nice to spread out over a few train journeys, many great stories that give you a smile.
loved it - finished in two days and wished it was twice as long. funny, warm and interesting.
"Good, could have been more"
Yes, I think performers delivering their own autobiographies is usually better and Tina Fey does it with expression and passion. The only slight criticism would be the way the edit fades down the last words in each chapter... It was weird and hard to hear but a minor complaint overall.
I haven't, but having seen a lot of her TV and film this was nice to hear.
The early improv years - I like hearing how it was literally just hard work and trying that hit her up.
Laugh in places, but not over
I feel like there is a lot missing from the book as a whole and she could have been much more thorough. I don't regret listening to it but I would hope there'll be a follow up book one day.
