The story of Abraham Lincoln is very similar to that of Truman...from the point of view of his humble beginnings to the path to the presidency.
Nelson brings the characters to life, by changing his voice inflection for each person, singing, and creating an experience that puts you into the story.
No...it's too long and complicated. However, I found myself looking for times to be alone so I could listen to it. Very well done!
Just a great Book!
Truman was not perfect but was a Great President
I didn't know much about Truman. The book starts a few generations back to give a great back story. It follows his years before politics as well as after. They're are times when you wonder whether the president is acting right or not. All the while you can feel the weight of his times. You really get to know the heart of the man here.
I'm Jonathon. I live in Indian Land, SC. Decided to try Audible so I can listen while I walk my dog. I love to read but to be honest...I can't sit and listen to a book in a chair like I can with a print copy. Still this is allowing me to read and be productive while out with my pup. Good in the car also...I tried driving and reading a paperback and that really didn't work out well.
A great detailed book about a figure that I knew little about. The narrator was great and I loved his "Truman" voice. Kinda made me feel like I knew him. I want from associating him with one thing, and after learning about his life, that decision will be way easier to justify for me. Harry now is a newfound inspiration and I'm so glad I have him as a role model. If Harry thought it was the right thing, which I've never disagreed with, then it really was because his character shines proudly among the American Presidents. Roosevelt should have died sooner and let him take the reins.
