Reader was awesome... good storyline... didn't think I would enjoy this at the start and was disappointed initially that I had purchased it. .. after listening to everything else in my library I started listening simply because I had already purchased it. .. and I'm glad I did. .. loved Oberon and Atticus.
This is the first time I've reviewed a book but this was pretty bad so hopefully I'll keep someone from losing their money on it. The first tying that threw me off is the main character talks about his Irish accent but the narrator is clearly American. The second thing I noticed was the writing was of poor quality but that could be forgiven to (if you like Twilight).
Within the first hour the already immortal hero becomes even more immortal and most of the book is either talking about how awesome and powerful he is and how good he is with the ladies. There is little to no explanation as how he became the ultimate warrior, he's superman meets James Bond meets a highschool kid who has read a lot of mythology books and thinks she's a pagan. You feel absolutely no connection with the character and his enemies are a joke so there is no sense of danger. There's absolutely no reason this book should get any good reviews unless you've never read a good fantasy or your a young boy who gets off on how the main character gets every over hot woman he meets naked within twenty minutes, literally. This book was bad, it's only popular for the same reason Fifty Shades of Grey was - hype by people who don't read very often. I really want to rip this writer a new one with a scathing review but I want you to understand I gave it a chance and I'm writing as objectively as I can. Please. PLEASE don't spend money on this and if someone offers it as a gift promptly return it and buy something by a good writer instead like Brandon Sanderson or Jaquiline Carey
I need more of this series in this voice actors voice. I originally chose this story because I am a druid and I thought listening to a story about a very old druid in America would be amusing at the very least. I fell in love with the story and characters. That is impressive because I am not a fan of first person point of view. I recommend this story to everyone.
It took me a little bit to start putting it all together but it was entertaining throughout. A good read that I would recommend to anyone. Looking forward to book two.
I was wrong. The story was funny and entertaining. His wolfhound was hilarious.
When Oberon quoted Cartman from Southpark.
I'm hooked, I'm a goner, I'm in love....with Oberon.
Fabulous writing, storyline, narration. I am already moving on to book two.
I listen to a bit of everything. Mostly Fantasy and paranormal romance with my wife. Along with mysteries/thrillers, even some sci-fi.
Fast, fun, exciting
I'd mix some Christopher Moore with some of the best urban fantasy authors. Jeaniene Frost (minus the graphic sex).
Great Irish accents, and impeccable timing for Oberon's one-liners.
Yes, pacing was spot on. The book never felt like it was dragging. There was always something happening or on the brink of happening. It was fast paced without feeling rushed.
What a great start to a series. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Hounded. The characters are great. From the Gods to the widow to the classic Oberon. Great memorable characters and a whole lot of stories to be told. I'm really looking forward to listening to this series. It doesn't take itself overly serious, but it's got adventure, some romance, lots of characters and some laughs too. Looking for an urban fantasy series without all the romance and sex, this is one to check out.
Had a lot of fun listening to thus book. The action was non-stop and the characters were well portrayed. I especially enjoyed the humor that Oberon brought to the story.
