Accounts of the test subjects' experiences are the best part of this book. Listening to this book has made become much more curious about psychedelic experiences.

    "Clinical but fascinating"

First off, the narration was excellent.
To the meat of the book itself: Dr. Strassman is a truly fascinating human being who's pushing the boundaries seemingly without concern for his professional reputation. Yet what I loved most about this book was that he actually followed the scientific method. He didn't get the result (insofar as I perceived it) that he wanted and yet didn't shy away from that fact. He's s scientist through and through, even when talking of otherworldly encounters. If you're curious about psychedelics and whether they may have a place in modern psychiatry, read on.

    "Mind Opening"

I loved it. Always wanted to hear more and more. Aliens & Parallel Universes. Very, very interesting. What happens after death? Do alien abductions have to do with the Spirit Molecule? Strassman is a genius in the way he presents his ideas. This is a book that covers evey part of the research process.

Great science based approach toward the anomaly of DMT world exposure. Read Hancock's Supernatural next!

    "Fascinating and Futile"

It's a great diary of a psychiatric Doctors' obsession to bring some merit to psychadelic research despite a failed theory. Science only benefits us after repeated failures to test ideas. I am grateful for people like him. I like the honesty of this authors account of the highs and lows over many years of serious research. The fact is also acknowledged here that there is still very little real practical benefit to mankind even after all these thousands of years of psychedelic drug use. People either seem to be spiritual or not ..and whichever you are should be more clear by the time you get to the end of this book! I don't think this world can get enough of serious discussions on the nature of consciousness and reality and the meaning of existence. DMT use seems to be a real way to cross a barrier that in my opinion God has put up for a reason. I believe it is for our spiritual and mental protection. Madness or euphoria seems to await us all in the next world. The mystery of life and death are brought out over and over in this account. Perhaps "psychonauts" on these risky inner adventures will be humbled enough by awareness of their true mortality that they resolve to love others more with whatever time they've got left? That's a benefit indeed. I do think it's conspicuous though how the author omits any real continuing problems of demonic oppression and/or possession cases that often arise from psychedelic drug use used clinically or in witchcraft or shamanistic practices for millennia. Our English word for pharmacy comes from the Greek word for witchcraft . Modern psychiatry and science are useless against terrible possession cases. Why is it that Jesus' Name works to this day by His actual followers to overcome it all over the world?! That's fascinating to me. Also none of the psychedelic nor alien abduction stories I've ever read will acknowledge that Jesus Christ came to earth in the flesh as the only Son of God. He is NEVER acknowledged this way by ANY beings (or spirits or aliens or creatures etc) to actually BE who He said He was..the actual Son of God that came here in the flesh. These "things" will ALWAYS say some pantheistic line about YOU or NATURE or the UNIVERSE is "GOD".The Bible gives that test directly for spirits about Jesus for all of us to know whether a spirit is good or evil! (Read 1st and 2nd John in the New Testament as well as the Book of Acts). How is it that His Name is cursed daily by so many everywhere for over 2000 years now?.. and yet His love and power remain real and still successful against all darkness and evil?!..but someday EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS IS LORD! May He "enlighten" anyone who reads this. He continues doing just that to me for over 30 years now.

Narrators voice is monotone and uninteresting. Interesting data- though tough to get through the entire book.

    "A Incredible Book On DMT"

This book was much more than just a book on DMT trips. It was a thoughtful book, allowing the reader to journey with Dr. Strassman through the hurdles that he had to go through to make this clinical studies possible, and the chaos that these studies caused in his personal life. The DMT reports are the most intriguing, depicting worlds and experiences that are similar to a few Castaneda accounts, yet far different in many others, all of which follow a similar theme: DMT takes you to places, not of your own imagination and mind, but to places of perception not available to those in what Strassman calls channel "normal". This book emphasizes the need for a more serious look at DMT, similar to Graham Hancock's take on ayahuasca. The narrator was spot on as well, and contributed greatly to the information presented. 5 stars and more.
