I am not a huge Rob Lowe fan, but I saw him promoting this book on tv talk shows and thought it would be a fun/easy listen. I was pleasantly surprised! It made me laugh more than I had anticipated, and I learned fascinating little tidbits. A fun, light listen. And if you are a Rob Lowe fan (or if you used to be), you'll love it!
Who would have guessed that Rob Lowe has a brain? Drive, intelligence and talent also fueled his career, and he tells his story in a compelling, friendly way, complete with an astonishing number of Forrest Gump-like coincidences.
Had never had a nlvel read to me .... much less by the AUTHOR !!! Rob's voice fit the story !!!
Many celebrities and famous people have joined the book circuit in what seems to be an endeavor for more fame and fortune and less about genuinely sharing their story. This book definitively was not that for me. I was so pleased with the way the story was told and even though it was filled with a lot of famous people, I felt Rob Lowe gave an open account about who he was and how he felt in the acting/celebrity scene. It was thoroughly enjoyable story.
Something about yourself.
I rarely listen to or read autobiographies but could not pass up this tale. The journey is at times exhilarating and humorous and at others profoundly sad but never without hope. This is a tale not to be missed. I found myself comparing it to Forrest Gump because of all the brushes with great people and events and having a part in shaping history. The author is intelligent, well spoken, honest and does not point fingers and lay blame for any of the trials or scandals. Finally a believable Point of View from and insider in Holllywood. A gifted actor, author, human and a gifted father and husband. WOW
Rob Lowe does a great job telling his own story. I usually prefer fiction but this was a very interesting autobiography, possibly because I remember many of the events that happened to him and was interested in his back story. Now when I see him appear in a TV or movie role, I have a new perspective and appreciation of him.
The stories are gripping. The tone is reflective. It is amusing at times and touching...a gifted story teller sharing incredible life experiences (both beautiful and treacherous). Inspirational story and worth every minute.
Great autobiography with great flow, great stories and read extremely well by the author himself. Really held my attention. Worth the purchase. The only problem is the audiobook doesn't have a download of the pictures he includes in the hardcopy which are always nice in an biographical book.
I am slightly embarrassed at how much I liked this book -- it's a bit like admitting to people that you read US Weekly (which I'm NOT admitting, btw!), but the story is great and his performance makes it that much better. The guy can do impressions! Who knew! For anyone who grew up in the era of the Brat Pack, it's a fun trip down memory lane.
Interesting life and lessons learned. Child star, maturing actor and then entertainment business person. Interesting stories of the life and the projects and the characters he encountered along the way.
